  • 13 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. Is the Assistant Minister in order to avoid answering my question? What are the other roles that the ERC was established for because he has made it clear that it is not only price regulation? view

  • 13 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister’s answer shows very clearly that it might take a long time before these three frustrated Kenyans get paid. The three have been out of service for the last four years. As indicated by the Assistant Minister, the reason for this is the defaulters. Looking at the efforts made by Mawasiliano Sacco, it is like they went to court, first, seeking that Telkom Kenya Limited does not pay the defaulters. Secondly, the Sacco sought that Telkom Kenya Limited pays the loans that were taken by the defaulters. What is the Ministry doing to ensure that ... view
  • 13 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the three former members of Mawasiliano Sacco Limited are really crying and seeking for a direct and clear help from the Ministry of Co- operatives Development and Marketing. The Assistant Minister has indicated that so far, view
  • 13 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Sacco Limited has been able to pay up to the tune of Kshs46 million on first-come, first-served basis. How sure is she that the payments have actually been made on first-come, first-served basis? Is she involved in ensuring that when money becomes available for the next payment, the three former members of the Sacco benefit? I have been going to her office on the same. Could she confirm to this House that once the Sacco gets money for the next payment, the three former members will actually be paid? view
  • 12 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise under Standing Order No.23. I want to first of all thank you for giving us this opportunity. This is a matter of national importance and you agree with me that all these Members have been yearning to contribute. I seek leave to move the adjournment of the House for the purpose of discussing this very great matter. This can come after the very major agenda on the Order Paper. I seek your advice. view
  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, let me start by thanking the Government for the quick action. On Tuesday afternoon, we had a sitting of my Committee and we made a statement to the effect that we expected the Minister to act within seven days and he acted within one day which was very good. However, the real very serious concern that we have here is that this money is being released one month and four days after the schools have opened. We are not sure whether schools have actually been running without money and as a committee, we had asked ... view
  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. One is to thank and wish the new Minister all the best. I believe that he is going to totally agree with the Committee’s Report and recommendations, because this will take Kenyans a step higher. view
  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I want to thank the Committee for having recognized very important areas that need serious attention. The recommendation by the Committee that Kshs1.2 billion be availed to complete Mtihani House is a very wonderful proposal, noting that this building has taken over 27 years. I think we shall go into history as the Tenth Parliament that ensured that this project was completed. view
  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, we have many Kenyans who cannot afford higher education fees. The proposal to give an additional Kshs1 billion to the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) will go a long way in helping the very needy and poor to ensure that they continue with their education. view
