  • 6 Nov 2015 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. First and foremost, I want to thank the honourable Senators for the contributions they have made. I think it is rather--- view
  • 6 Nov 2015 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to say, on behalf of my Members who incidentally worked very hard for two days and nights to make sure that this Senate receives the report in accordance with the Standing Orders. To be fair to the Committee, even before Members read the report to find out the reasoning and the witnesses that we called and their submissions, the Committee has been condemned outright which - I want to submit for record – that it is grossly unfair. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. A certified version of ... view
  • 3 Nov 2015 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I seek the indulgence of the Chair and the House, as a matter of record, to state that today, we waited for the Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, Hon. Nkaissery to issue a Statement on matters of national security but he did not show up. view
  • 3 Nov 2015 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am not aware because we waited with the distinguished Chairperson of the Committee and gave up. I do not know whether he got additional information which I would be happy to receive. view
  • 3 Nov 2015 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am much obliged. I want to thank my former colleague and I am not surprised that he volunteered to give the--- view
  • 3 Nov 2015 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I thank him because he is honest enough to own up to it. But, I still remain in the dark because this, principally, was my issue as to the way forward on this matter. view
  • 29 Oct 2015 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the distinguished Chairperson, Sen. Haji, is reading a Statement that I asked for in May. From this week’s ruling, the Cabinet Secretary (CS) was coming. He is reading the same statement he read then. Is he in order to read a statement when we are expecting the CS on Tuesday? I think the Senator is out of order. view
  • 28 Oct 2015 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I have a lot of respect for my sister Senator. With due respect, she has not addressed the issues that I raised. She only addressed the issue of delay. However, more fundamentally, I raised the issue of the hospital giving people ridiculous appointments of up to 2017 from now. No patient will wait until then. I gave an example of my own aunt who recently lost her life awaiting that long ridiculous appointment. view
  • 28 Oct 2015 in Senate: Thank you Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for the opportunity to support this important Bill. In doing so, I commend my colleague Sen. Haji for this Bill. This Bill is long overdue. It should have been enacted many years ago. It is a shame that 50 years since Independence, we are enacting a Bill to manage disasters. I say this because you are aware we have had many disasters before. The management of these disasters has left much to be desired. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, first of all, we have not taken measures to prevent disasters as the Bill proposes. Disasters ... view
  • 27 Oct 2015 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I join in congratulating the patriotic Kenyans who have brought this Petition. You will note that, recently, we have been receiving a lot of petitions to the Senate to look into issues of misappropriation of funds in counties. Misappropriation of funds in counties is so rampant. I dare say that I know of no county that is not misappropriating funds. This is an indictment on the part of the Auditor-General because he is not doing his job properly and that is why wananchi have to resort to petitions on misappropriation because he is sleeping on the job. ... view
