  • 5 Dec 2013 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I want to agree with him because this Report is very good and has been done very well. First, I want to commend the Committee. However, the Report was only laid on the Table yesterday. Now, we have 40 minutes left. These are very important issues that will affect the running of our Senate. I plead that we postpone this Debate so that we continue with it when we come back. By then, we will have digested the very useful comments that have been made by this very hardworking Committee. view
  • 5 Dec 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am pleading with my colleagues that in order that we may give Sen. Kiraitu Murungi another opportunity to now move this Motion properly, as was suggested by his Co-Chair, we let this Motion die so that when he comes, he will start afresh. So, I really want to plead that we should let this Motion die. view

  • 4 Dec 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am seeking your indulgence to also remind the able Sen. Haji, the Chairman of the Committee on National Security and Foreign Relations, that he did undertake two months ago to give a statement on insecurity in Malalani in Kitui County. I know the frustrations that he is going through, but that notwithstanding, he owes it to this House, to give us the statements that we seek. So, I beg to request that he gives us this Statement before the House goes on recess. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. ... view

  • 4 Dec 2013 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I stand to support this important Motion. I want to remind the House that the Mover of the Motion, Sen. G.G. Kariuki, was once in charge of internal security in this country and I was privileged, as a Provincial Commissioner, to serve under him. Therefore, the concerns that this Motion expresses are real. Over the last few years, this country has experienced serious insecurity in the country. Every day, there are stories that you cannot believe. In fact, it is so depressing when you watch news on television. The stories you hear and the scenes you ... view
