  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I also take this opportunity to support this Motion from the outset. This is a great opportunity for our country because it will help open up markets across the world. As one Member has said, there are flower farmers who have found it very hard to transport flowers to the United States of America (USA), but right now, since we will have direct flights to the USA, it will be a great opportunity because our farmers will benefit directly. We also appreciate it because it will open up job opportunities, especially for ... view
  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, we also have the Trans Mara Sugar Belt. The Board is supposed to serve sugar farmers. It is not advisable to invest the money in God knows what. They can even decide to invest with a bank that they know will collapse the following week because they have a hidden agenda with the proprietors of that bank. That is not possible at all. They should only invest in the farmers. view
  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, very much Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Motion on the Report of the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations on the Ratification of the Protocols to the African Charter on Human Rights, Rights of the Older Persons and the Rights of Persons with Disability. First of all, let me acknowledge the heroes who have brought us along this journey. Hon. (Dr.) Naomi Shabaan and Hon. (Dr.) Nyikal who are medical doctors by profession. Hon. (Dr.) Naomi Shabaan was the Minister while Hon. (Dr.) Nyikal was the Permanent Secretary in that ministry. At that ... view

  • 29 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. In 2000, I was the Student Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU) President. During our time, we used to have direct voting. Sovereignty laid with the students, who directly elected their representatives. I agree and sympathise with the Petitioner because when Prof. Magoha became the Vice- Chancellor, he wanted to curtail the leadership of the university and, therefore, introduced an electoral system with electoral colleges. In an electoral college, you are able to manipulate a few characters who are representatives of the rest to elect you. The reason we fought so hard against the Building Bridges Initiative ... view

  • 29 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I come early and I always come before the Speaker and leave after the Speaker. This is because I was taught by my parents to earn from my sweat and this is my work station. So, I must be in my work station on time. view
  • 29 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Electoral violence is action caused by a loss and we have to address it once and for all in this House. I think what we threw out of this House, the issue of capping the amount of money to be used in campaigns is something we need to rethink and relook into. Sometimes, it is a mega loss when you have spent a lot of money and this is what causes emotions. Apart from ethnic and tribal alienation, it is the amount of money you have used during campaigns, which you think is lost when you do not get a ... view
