Where does this money go, if it cannot service electricity bills? I can prove that they collect almost Kshs700,000 per month. view

About a month ago, I rose on a point of order requesting for a Ministerial Statement from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance regarding cushioning and borrowings that we are supposed to have done from the IMF. Up to now, the statement has not been delivered. Could I be told when the Statement will be delivered? view

• 15 Dec 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the problem here is that some of these people now camping outside their homes have had their homes swept away by floods. Some of them, their economic activities have been interfered with; they cannot do business. This means that come next term which begins next month, they will not be able to pay school fees for their sons and daughters who will be joining secondary school. Is it in order for the Assistant Minister to mislead this House that they will arrest whoever whenever a situation of that kind arises, and yet two weeks ago in Kisumu, I was being attacked by the supporters of my opponent, including a councillor who is known? We reported the case to Kisumu Police Station and I called the Commissioner of Police who promised to come back to me on the same day but up to today, he has never come back to me. view

• 14 Dec 2011 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, it is of great concern that even with the era of computers, where data should be readily available in the Ministry of State for Public Service, the Minister cannot come with an answer to this Question. You know the problem that is bedeviling this country at this particular moment. It is as a result of those aged Permanent Secretaries who cannot perform. That is why we are undergoing a lot of problems in this country. Can the Minister come up and tell us, exactly, why he is not able to respond to this Question? view

However, the President must have indicated the reason for terminating Nyarotho’s contract. The proper reason must have been given by the person who drafted the letter that the President signed. We want to know the content of that letter. We cannot allow the Assistant Minister to get away with this. He has to explain to this House why Nyarotho’s contract was terminated. view

(a) Under what circumstances was M/s Swani Coffee Estate Ltd. in Thika defrauded of 50 hectares of land in May 2009? (b) Why has the Government not arrested the suspect(s) who were involved in the fraudulent transaction? (c) Could the Ministry consider establishing a section within the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to handle cases of fraud and corruption in land transactions, in view of the upsurge in such cases? view
