  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: I want to thank the Chairman for a job well done, for investigating and presenting a serious Report from his Committee. With those remarks, I beg to support. view
  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you very much hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. It allows us to pay tribute to those people who went before us. They sacrificed their lives, families, comfort and health so that this country is safe and independent. I remember when I was growing up, hearing of names like Dedan Kimathi, Mekatilili and all other people who fought for the independence that we are enjoying today. It pains me that, at this time and moment in life, we find that there are people who are languishing in poverty. We should not be a country that is ... view
  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, the United Kingdom Government has agreed to compensate a section of people who fought for independence in this country. However, this country was not liberated by people from just one place or region. The people who participated in this struggle came from across the country. So, it just is not fair that a small section of freedom fighters get compensated and in other regions we do not have people being compensated. We are a country that forgets very fast. We should be in the front line to even commemorate and remember our freedom fighters. We could ... view
  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: archives are not very up to date. Even our children, as they grow up, do not even understand that there are people who came before us and sacrificed their lives fighting for the freedom that we are enjoying as a nation. Therefore, I join the rest of my colleagues in thanking hon. Wangamati for this very important Motion. It is timely. It is very unfortunate that even at this time, there are people who retire from public service having spent their entire lives offering services to this country and yet, they languish in poverty. There are people who retire from ... view
  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I wish to support the Motion fully. Thank you. view
  • 18 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I want to support the amendments but I take great exception on (f) because there has been a lot of confusion in this country as to who should be referred to as “His Excellency.” Governors have been going everywhere using that title. So, I take exception and say that this is a job well done. The Governor of a county shall be referred to as “the Governor” and not “His or Her Excellency”. I also want to make an amendment. Probably the proponent of this should have had a space for the ... view
  • 13 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I think I pressed the wrong button. I am waiting to contribute to the next amendment. view

  • 13 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you very much hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for this opportunity. As much as I support, I have listened to the amendments that have been brought by the President. They are all good. My concern is that there is a lot of witch- hunting even within commissions. I would have supported hon. Chepkong’a if there was a way in which the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee would be involved in terms of hiring and firing. It should not be that they hire the Secretary and when it is time to fire him, that is the only time the National Assembly ... view
  • 30 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, Temporary Deputy Speaker for this opportunity to talk about this important commodity. From the outset, I do support this Water Bill. This is because it touches everybody in this country. There is no doubt that water is life. Human beings and even animals depend on water. This Bill has come at a very critical time; it seeks to streamline the water sector that has been marred with a lot of corruption and undue processes in terms of how people in this country access water. When people talk about lack of water, they think that it is only the ... view
