issues and has also adopted very good reports. If the various Government departments were to implement them, Kenyans would begin to see a new country altogether. In fact, we will begin to receive good services. I ask the Committee on Implementation to move with speed and ensure that these reports are implemented. It is on the basis of the implementation of the reports that have been adopted by this House that Kenyans’ lives will begin to improve and they will begin to have confidence in what the House does. We burn the midnight oil debating and researching in order to ...

Hon. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 44(2)(c), I wish to request for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security regarding the proliferation of fake currency scam, commonly referred to as “wash wash”, in Kenya. Currently, there have been increased cases of production of fake currencies in the country where a gang is operating a fake currency racket popularly known as “wash wash ” and the same group appears to be highly connected and above the law. The gang is swindling millions of shillings from unsuspecting Kenyans under the pretext that they can double ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity also to add my voice on this very important Motion. I want to state at the outset that I support and I want to congratulate Hon. Ruweida. Indeed, she has demonstrated that women are coming to take their rightful positions. Gone are the days when the only thing that would make you realise that a woman was around was the smell of a very nice perfume. This is very good. I also want to tell the Government and the policy makers within Government that this is a very important ...

I expect that those who are involved in policy formulation in the health sector are going to use what Members are contributing today and by resolution of this House come up with something in the budget so that we can look at it and approve. We will be happy as Members of Parliament to appropriate money that we are completely aware that is going to set up cancer and diabetes diagnostics centers in this country. A country that does not invest in early testing is a country that will not have a future. The future of this country lies in ...

I also want to ask the Committee on Implementation to ensure that whatever this House resolves or approves, they should follow it up through implementation. It should form the basis of what is brought to this House for the purposes of budgeting and approval. We are a representative of the people and we think on behalf of the Kenyans and once we have pronounced ourselves on a matter, the policy makers and the Government must take it seriously. Whatever comes out of this House must be given priority in funding within the Budget. With those few remarks, I want to ...

Hon. Deputy Speaker, I beg to move the following Motion: THAT, aware that road transport is the most widely used means of transportation in Kenya; further aware that matatus, motor omnibuses and buses provide service to millions of people in a day and are the backbone of Kenya’s public road transport services; cognisant that the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Act is mandated by law to, among other things, come up with conditions as it may consider fit for the purposes of ensuring that the fares imposed for the carrying of passengers are reasonable and ensure fair competition within ...

It is on that basis that the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) should formulate policies and regulations to cushion the many Kenyans who use matatus from exorbitant fares charged by unscrupulous people and criminal gangs controlling stages. Previously, the President urged matatu operators not to hike fares on the basis of the 8 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuel. They did not heed the advice of the President because there were no regulations or laws that could help the police or the NTSA to enforce those directives. Every day, many Kenyans go to work. Even when they ...
