  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Speaker. I also wish to congratulate hon. Ali for bringing this timely petition. We are in a very difficult period in our country where we have a lot of insecurity issues. It is only fair that we have a proper and fully constituted National Police Service Commission (NPSC), so that at least they fully execute their mandate as enshrined in the Constitution. As we speak, we have problems in the police force. Many police County Commanders are not in their stations. Every time we talk to the county, the police rank and file are not in ... view
  • 18 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I take this opportunity first to condemn whatever happened. The stripping of those young girls was very ashaming. It just shows the rot in our society which is very grave stretching from every corner of our society, including the courts. It is not only those ladies who dress in a very light way. Even girls who dress in Hijabs dress lightly. I have a court ruling here where girls were stopped from view
  • 18 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: 48 Tuesday 18th November, 2014 wearing Hijabs in school. Our society should condemn in equal measure those who are stripping girls and women in the streets because that cannot be tolerated. Honestly as a Muslim, if a woman dresses indecently, it is up to her. I am wondering what type of men those are because as a Muslim, I am not even allowed to touch her. So, why are they touching the ladies? What is wrong with those men? That was very bad and must be condemned. Our society is so rotten because if you watch those videos, and I ... view

  • 27 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I wish to donate my balance of time to two hon. Members. I give two minutes each to hon. Saney and the Leader of the Minority Party. view
  • 27 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. This Motion, as many hon. Members have alluded to, is very important. It is important for all Kenyans and more important for people who have been marginalized like the people of Mandera, Wajir and Garissa. view
  • 27 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: As we speak, we have many Kenyan Somali who do not have IDs. They are not like the rest of Kenyans and I can attest to that fact. People in northern Kenya do not have equal rights to IDs and other national documents. This is what this Motion aims to correct. view
  • 27 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, we are facing discrimination in this country. We have faced it historically through successive regimes, and we are disappointed that The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 27 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: this discrimination continues even under the new Constitution. This is something which is very horrible. I appeal to my colleagues, hon. Members, to be awake to the fact that even when they were opposing the amendment--- We were not saying that Somali from Somalia should be given IDs. We are also not saying that refugees in the refugee camps, who are not Kenyans, should be given IDs. What we are saying is that we have a section of Kenyans who, due to poverty caused by drought, loss of their source of livelihood and their animals, which are all they have ... view
