• 26 Jun 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, let me rephrase it. Majority of politicians give wrong information to the public and nobody has ever been prosecuted for that. In this case, I do not see the why the Deputy Governor of Siaya was impeached because of that. We have only carried two impeachments on the Floor of this House for the time I have been here. The one of Governor Waititu of Kiambu County was carried. That was political then. view
• 26 Jun 2023 in Senate: Secondly, the second Governor who was impeached was the Governor of Nairobi City County. It was equally political. I do not see the reason why someone who has built his career for the last 30 years will have it killed because of those two allegations. The best that this Committee and Assembly should have done is to subject this matter to audit as they have indicated in their report and refer it to Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate it. view

• 21 Jun 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Kenya has become a dumping ground as far as commodities are concerned. Of concern to me is a product like rice, which Kenya is actually producing and produces other commodities too. One time I walked into our market and bought onions from Ethiopia. My question is: Do we have a mechanism in place where we sit and agree or check whether we really need to import certain products into this country? If we do not do that, we are going to hurt the manufacturers and kill the morale of the local manufacturers. view

Of course, for us who are pastoralists, we know agriculture and livestock are devolved. Livestock is our tea, coffee, sugar and everything. My question is, how are you ensuring that the standard on the ground is kept as far as livestock production is concerned? There are abattoirs that are built in many parts of the pastoral counties. Are you planning to bring in PPPs to increase production so that those abattoirs are useful to the pastoral communities where people can get employment and as pastoralists, be able to get those dollars back by exporting meat to the middle east where the market lies?
