  • 1 Oct 2024 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, is it in order for Sen. Chute to insinuate that Sen. Cherarkey is making noise? That language is unparliamentary. Can he withdraw and apologize? view
  • 25 Sep 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I have three game reserves in my county and the Meru Park that neighbours us. If you look how it was before devolution and right now during devolution, the standards of those reserves and parks have gone down. These reserves are under the county governments and they are supposed to take care of them. You will find that most counties do not have the capacity and they do not employ professionals to man those reserves. My question to the hon. Cabinet Secretary is whether there is a working mechanism between the Ministry and the counties. ... view
  • 18 Sep 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I wish to join my colleagues in contributing to this matter. I will not say much because a lot has been said but this matter is not about a political party; it is about an individual member of the Cabinet who should take up his responsibilities. I feel frustrated because nothing is happening in this House as far as summons or invitations are concerned. We either pack and go home or take our matter seriously because things are not going in the right direction. I am going to make a Statement on the Floor ... view
  • 20 Aug 2024 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I vote “yes”. view
  • 14 Aug 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I oppose the Motion because having been around for some time, I have the experience of both the committee and the plenary way. I will give a good example of a committee that brought down a Senator in this country when we chose this route. It was during the impeachment of the former Nyeri Governor. I sat in that Committee and we went well up to the very end. At the last minute, we were the only two Members who were left supporting the impeachment. When it came to the House, the Senator was devastated ... view
  • 7 Aug 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I wish to give Notice of the following Motion- THAT the Senate adopts the Report of the Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations on a Petition to the Senate by Mr. Samuel Esapar on behalf of a resident of Turkana County concerning the state of insecurity in Turkana County, laid on the table of the Senate on Wednesday, 7th August 2024. Thank you. view
  • 31 Jul 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I join my colleagues in congratulating this committee that looked into the Petition from Nyamira County. I hope the petitioners will get solutions to the current problems they are facing. There is a major problem as far as land acquisition by relevant government institutions in this country is concerned. It is a matter that we need to review. Mr. Speaker, Sir, looking at the Petition, you can imagine 104 acres of land being owned by certain institution in a place like Nyamira County, where the population is increasing. That is a big chunk of land ... view
  • 31 Jul 2024 in Senate: Most of the issues on land acquisition happened many years before the population had increased. It is high time we reviewed the land acquired by the national Government institutions so that we can have proper planning. As Isiolo County, we do not even have development land within CBD. Moreover, there is idle land lying somewhere and a prison department is trying to see how they can corrupt the system and give the same land to private individuals. There is a case even in court where somebody has acquired an illegal title. I believe this committee has done the right thing ... view
  • 10 Jul 2024 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, if you can allow me, I have a Statement. view
  • 10 Jul 2024 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I do not have any comment. view
