  • 24 Oct 2019 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I wish to support this Statement. It is really unfortunate that in the 21st Century, this country is not prepared for disaster especially as a result of floods and drought. We are losing many people and roads and animals are being swept away. Where are we heading as a country? We cannot be entertaining this year-in, year-out. This morning, I spoke to the CS for Devolution and ASAL Areas. The way they are preparing to counter rain disasters is not realistic. They met today to discuss how to intervene. Something needs to be done. This should be ... view
  • 23 Oct 2019 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I wish to support this Statement. From the onset, we do not object Government projects. However, the way they are being implemented in this country is like forcing them on the communities that are living on the ground. Secondly, the constitutional provision of public participation on all the projects that are implemented at the county or whatever level is very clear. Unfortunately, the Government agencies that are dealing with these processes disregard the provision of the Constitution. Kenyans are really suffering because most of them are jobless. We know land is a sensitive matter because ... view

In the Statement, the Committee should: (1) Explain why the KMC is yet to pay farmers from across the country who have supplied livestock to the corporation, despite persistent demands; (2) State when the corporation will pay the famers and, specifically, the beneficiaries of Messrs. Pariken Ole Koipa and Isaac Lelei (both deceased) and Mr. Ibrahim Yusuf Ali, who ... view

  • 16 Oct 2019 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I did not understand what the Chairperson of the Committee on Health has said. This is a specific statement from me. I would like it to be treated separately. Just because they visited one county, it does not mean that it will address my question. view

  • 16 Oct 2019 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker Sir, I do not have information that will give us a solution, but there is one point that I really wanted to add. In the process of disarmament of NPRs, the NPRs at the border level were not disarmed. They are the ones that are actually terrorizing people. We want to know how they are being controlled so that they do not terrorize people. Secondly, there was a promise regarding those who were disarmed. We were promised that the Government would come up with regulations in terms of how the firearms are going to be used. Up ... view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I wish to support this Petition. As a country, we are really letting down business people. It is the right of those who have supplied or provided services, when required to, to get their payments. Unfortunately, the rate at which we are delaying payments to Kenyans is unbelievable. We need to see how we can solve this problem as a country, because it has appeared severally in this Senate. This is not only happening in the NYS; even in the counties, the contactors who have supplied and rendered services to most counties are drained, ... view
