  • 20 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Leader of Majority Party talking about flats being built in a certain area. The issue here is not the flats; environmental impact assessments do not foresee crucial projects because of environmental impact. What is supposed to be put in place is adequate mitigation measures, so that whichever project is put in place, the effects of it can be mitigated adequately, hence adverse effects on the environment can be avoided. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, environment impact assessment is going to take off this. As I conclude, I would like to ask that institutions like the PCC should be strengthened. In fact, ... view
  • 21 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this important Bill, which from the outset, I support. I would like to support this Bill for several reasons. First, it is timely. Secondly, it is going to give the investors of all calibers, both small and big, an opportunity to get the most important information required in investments. One of the biggest aspects of an investor is the ability to take risks. Investments are about taking risks while hoping to get benefits from them after some time. The risk that we are talking about is ... view
  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to the Presidential Address before this House during the Joint Sitting on 6th October, 2014. From the outset, I would like to say, first, that I support the President in totality for the position he took. I would like to say that that is a lesson of leadership that should be emulated by all of us. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I would like to differ with the previous speaker that by handing over power temporarily to the Deputy President, it was politics. Yes, it would have been ... view
  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, currently, I know there are problems between governors and their deputies; governors and members of county assemblies and governors and senators. I would like to call upon those leaders, and governors in particular to emulate what was demonstrated by the President and form partnerships with other leaders so that counties could have a good start. view
  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, on the issue of The Hague, I would like to state that on behalf of the Kirinyaga people whom I represent, we were very clear and categorical that the President would not be tried at The Hague as a President. We were not going to have our Commander-In-Chief tried at The Hague. We are happy to state that the person who was at The Hague was Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and not President Kenyatta. We are happy about it. For those who took the three people to The Hague, I would like to tell them one thing: ... view
  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: I would like to state that the case against President Uhuru, Deputy President William Ruto and Joshua arap Sang is one that has no basis. It is one that was politicized and meant to keep some people away from power – that is President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President Ruto. Luckily, that did not happen. So, I would like to call upon our partners on the other side of the House - which is the Opposition now - to take a bold step and partner with the Jubilee Government to take this country to greater heights. In particular, it was ... view
  • 1 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this very important Bill. I would like to say from the outset that this Bill is beneficial to the whole country and even beyond. From the outset, I would like to say that one of the Millennium Developments Goals talks about education for all; in this country since Independence we have been having training in various educational institutions managed by the Government. At this particular time, 50 years after Independence, we have many private sector institutions conducting various training programmes. It is important for us and the country ... view
  • 1 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, I would like to say that this Bill is timely and on behalf of my people of Gichugu, I would like to support it. I would also like to conclude by saying that as we talk about this Bill, we also need to say that this is one of the issues that are so critical and dear to every member of this country; if we are going to have any dialogue in this Chamber, and not in other fora, these are the things that should put us together. We need to have dialogue to discuss education; ... view
  • 1 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: dialogue to discuss health services and agriculture; but we should not have dialogue aimed at having a referendum or civil unrest. With those few remarks, I support. view
  • 3 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I would also want to add my voice and comment on the Presidential Speech. I would like to congratulate the President for the presentation that he made to this House. In particular, he mentioned and put to the fore very key issues that affect this nation, some of them being security, support to devolution, increase in energy and access by the local population especially schools. He also mentioned about the wage bill, infrastructural development and many others. Due to the shortage of time, I would like to concentrate on a few issues, ... view
