  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: I am saying this because it is very important. This Bill really touches my heart directly because we have lost so many children and a number have been maimed in these markets. As one of the amendments, we would like these restrictions around schools and hospitals to be equally applied around market places so that we have very clear signs, Zebra crossings, and very clear bumps on the roads. Secondly, as my colleagues have said, it is extremely important that our school buses should have one colour and they should not travel at night. I think it is extremely important. ... view
  • 4 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I stand to support this amendment because we want the whole environmental system in this country to be seamless. I support. view
  • 4 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: I support. However, I just wanted the Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources to clarify one thing. Will this National Environmental Complaints Committee replicated at a lower level in the counties? Will there be a small committee at the county levels? view

  • 4 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Today, I am very disappointed because we are not very many in this House. We had hardly started debating the Motion and you cut it short. It is very disappointing. I do not know what is the rationale about that? We do not understand. We have been sitting here since morning and it is very disappointing. You must be having a very good reason why you cut the debate short yet we still have enough time. We would have carried on the debate up to 1.00 p.m. The electronic version of ... view
  • 26 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this chance to also add my voice in support of the Bill. However, with your indulgence, let me also take this opportunity to condole the families of the people who were massacred in Mandera. In my county, Kakamega, we lost 10 young men and women, who were just starting their lives. On behalf of my family, my constituency of Likuyani and myself, I pass our sincere condolences to the families of those people. May I just touch on two or three areas about this Bill. One, what the Bill is trying ... view
  • 26 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: institutions; they can help mature our county and county systems. Once we have a lobby group like this, a society that should be able to push for the welfare of the former Members of Parliament, it will be very easy for them to be placed in certain positions where they can assist, especially our country and our county systems. Secondly, we can mentor. I know very well, and all of us know that everybody aspires to go a little bit higher than where they are now. I am very sure, and many Members of Parliament will attest to this, out ... view

  • 26 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I have heard most of my colleagues talking about us offering solutions. I would like to offer three solutions to the rampant insecurity situation in this country. The first solution is what we understand very well. Any organization stands, first and foremost, from the leadership of that organization. Leadership will define where that organization is going. view
  • 26 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I was talking about leadership. We have seen in the past what leadership can do in every sector. I can just quote two or three areas where leadership has sorted out and has straightened certain things. The late hon. Michuki, let his soul rest in peace, brought sanity in virtually everywhere he worked. Let me talk about Mr. Karangi, although I do not like him, but you can see the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), with Mr. Karangi at the helm, has brought a lot of discipline. view
