  • 10 Feb 2020 in Senate: Let me now address myself to Mzee Moi as a leader in this country. Some may say that he was ruling under one party State and might have detained some people. That was not his creation; he inherited it. It is this Parliament that scrapped multiparty democracy, which we had during Independence. It is this Parliament that consequently view

  • 10 Feb 2020 in Senate: brought the detention law and not the late President Moi, and he was not the first one. Therefore, when we talk of these things, we must acknowledge that they are part of our history. Let us look at our history, but not load it on one single person. view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in Senate: Moi ruled this country and went through many phases that were difficult, but somehow, he always managed to pass over. He brought back the multi-party system. He initiated the Inter-Parties Parliamentary Group (IPPG) to cool down temperatures. view
  • 10 Feb 2020 in Senate: Moi ruled this country when he had opposition from the two major tribes of this country. Hardly did the Kikuyus and Luos support Moi in his time, and he endured. There is a lot we could say, but we are talking about a man whom when history is written, there will be a lot of big events that will be talked about and which have moved this country forward. • 29 Jan 2020 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. This is not a matter to prolong. However, as you know, these learned friends are capable and continually quote some Latin quotations. view
  • 29 Jan 2020 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, ngurario has no other interpretation in any other language. It is something that denotes a process; it denotes the weight of the ceremony and it has to be termed that way. In the event anybody may wish some small explanation, it could be provided by text. view
  • 5 Dec 2019 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this chance. I support the Petition because people should not just be relocated from where they have been living without consideration of their welfare. The Committee that is going to look into this matter should do so wholesomely. We have situations in other parts of the country, for example, around Mt. Kenya area, where there used to be a very elaborate and well planned shamba system. The people were eking a living out of the forest and planting trees. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A ... view
  • 5 Dec 2019 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, these people have gone to the extent of building secondary schools, dispensaries and other infrastructure. This happened around 1989, when the Government sent forces that forcefully removed them and destroyed anything that they had. They were consequently dumped on the edge of the forest in a small part of the road. These people are all around Mt. Kenya area, in the Aberdares Forest and I believe in many other places in the country. Therefore, let us look at this matter and come up with a useful solution which caters for everybody, especially for those in my area. ... view
