  • 5 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is the Minister in order to mislead this House considering the fact that those people are already fenced in by Egerton University? Is he in order to mislead this House that they have not been evicted and yet they have been fenced in? view
  • 5 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to commend my colleague, hon. Kioni, for coming up with this very important Bill concerning pyrethrum. view
  • 5 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I was educated with money from pyrethrum. As I speak today, in Nyandarua where we are supposed to have some form of cash crop, the crop has gone. As a result, people are really depending on potatoes and many young people are not being gainfully engaged. At one time, Kenya was contributing 60 per cent of the total world production of pyrethrum. Today, we are producing less than 5 per cent in the world, yet our soils produce the best crop with the highest pyrethrin content. That is why people even had to come from ... view
  • 5 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, first of all, I would like to support this Bill as brought to the House by Mrs. Noor. This Bill is good because of what we have witnessed in the NGO world. The NGO world has done a commendable job and most of us who are based in the rural areas have seen what both international and local NGOs have done. Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, as Mrs. Millie Odhiambo-Mabona has said, this Bill requires a lot of cleaning up, so that we are able to bring some sense in the NGO world without creating conflict. We ... view
  • 27 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I probably thought I was under quarantine because I have been wanting to ask this question. The issue raised by Dr. Otichilo is of paramount importance. When one is driving through Kikuyu, you can see the emissions from the factory. Along that area there are so many wetlands and one of them is called Audrey, which feeds into the rivers that are used by the Alliance High Schools. The balance of the rivers go all the way to Ngong and feed into the Mbagathi River and finally goes to the Coast. Has NEMA done the ... view
  • 27 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I would like to ask the Minister for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs this question: When we were doing the campaigns for the new Constitution we had a lot of input from the Diaspora. Why has the Cabinet sat and not even consulted the Diaspora with respect to elections? Will this not be a disincentive for our people who live in foreign land? They will feel that the Government will leave them out in key decision- making. In future, they might not send funds to this country the way ... view
  • 22 Nov 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I must commend hon. Musikari Kombo and also hon. David Njuguna for bringing a very pertinent issue. I come from Nyandarua County which is a settlement county. One of the biggest challenges that we have is with regard to land. The elders, chiefs, DOs, and DCs have been very much instrumental in sorting out some of the challenges. In fact, they averted a lot of crises. We all know land issues are very emotive issues. In some areas, they even cause death. Therefore, I would like to plead with the Executive, particularly the relevant Ministry that we ... view
