Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. Thank you, Sen. Khaniri for bringing this Statement. Power outage is everywhere in this country including the Lavington, Karen and Wajir areas of this world. Everywhere there is power outage. Sometimes what I do not understand in public sector is; if somebody does not deliver, why are you keeping them there? This problem of Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has been there for some time. Mr. Speaker, Sir, in my county, for example, every year during Ramadhan time, there is complete power outage. Sometimes you just wonder whether they ...

wind. You do not even need fuel-based energy. From hydro to solar, to wind, there is enough power in this country. Let us harness that opportunity that this country has instead of us having to lose money all the time. I thank you.

Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Petition. Sen. Mwaruma has been known to continuously fight for the rights of his people and he has been doing so very well. There are so many petitions coming to this House because Kenyans have some level of faith that things will happen. It will be very disappointing if the same House where Kenyans have a lot of faith in to bring their issues here and nothing moves. I agree with Sen. Sakaja that the Standing Committee on Lands, Environment and Natural Resources should either ...

Ministries, then the recommendation of that department moving to another Ministry is implemented. Sometimes I tend to feel that it is a crime to be poor in this country. That is because the brunt of bad issues is felt by the poor people. It is high time we became a little bit more humane in how we take care of squatters. Even if we evict them, there should be a solution. Remember the issue of Kisumu, where a mosque that was 90 years old was brought down in a day. That is a historical site. Many issues happen, especially those ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, given what was submitted by the Chairperson of the Committee on Finance and Budget and the able Senator of Uasin Gishu regarding the dilapidated situation of this building, I wonder whether we should be doing a proactive audit or be morticians who do audits that are not useful to anybody. People commit economic crimes and there are no consequences. Therefore, it is time for this House to do a thorough job like what was done in this Petition. When the people of certain counties are being robbed off their allocation, then there is somebody they can rely ...

about to rob the people who elected them? They entertain nonsense from other people. Unless this kind of a thorough job is done in this House and a lot of mischief is traced at its tracks, devolution will be on its knees, and nothing will benefit the people of each county, unless the issue of corruption is handled. If the building was valuated at a lower price, by the time it doubles the initial valuation, what happened? This is a question we need to ask ourselves and ensure that the governors and the county government staff do not fleece their ...

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Apologies, I cannot contribute in Kiswahili, although I would like to try. I want to congratulate Sen. Madzayo for bringing to the attention of this House the plight of that mother. During this COVID-19 period, it is hard enough that people cannot earn livelihoods. With that kind of struggle, somebody’s life is being made difficult. This people are earning their livelihood and looking into the welfare of their children. All they want is to put food on the table. Mr. Speaker, Sir, it is unacceptable for somebody who is on the Government’s payroll to harass ...
