  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: children. Some of them sit on the tank of the motorcycle and the rider has been given Kshs200 to take the children to school. This is bad manners. We should do something by disciplining ourselves. You will find a motorcycle carrying school children while playing loud music. I do not know what has happened to this Kenya of ours. We are to blame and it is bad manners on the roads. Lastly, but not least, I want to say that gates to schools are where most accidents occur. In my area, although there are earth roads, I have insisted that ... view
  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I want to thank my brother for bringing this amendment but when we come to the Third Reading, we may have to work on it so that we can insert some proposals. For penalties, we should standardize them for offenders even if we have corruption. I can tell you for sure that one motorcycle rider was arrested in my place. The father came to me and the child was hardly 18 years old. He asked me to bail the son out of the police station but I refused because he did not have a driver’s licence. ... view

  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I am very concerned by the point of order raised by hon. Namwamba. I was suggesting that the Division Bell be rung so that these Members can come to the House to debate. We cannot actually talk to empty benches. view
  • 3 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I think we are losing track of this argument. The way I am seeing it, is that we are losing track of this argument. As far as I am concerned, we are talking about somebody who has left the office. This House, sometime back, agreed that when we leave these offices we look for pension. But when we talk about someone having retired, it means that once you pass this amendment, you are shut out. It means also, that you will be violating individual rights to come back to politics. The idea is, the moment one ... view
  • 25 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The statement by hon. Keynan is very dangerous. He talked of 3,920 boys? I want him to name the people who are behind the recruitment of the 3,920 young boys. We want to know because this country cannot wish away that statement. I insist and persist that he names the people who are behind the recruitment of the 3,920 Somalis. view
  • 25 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. With all due respect to the Leader of Majority Party, we are not saying that these people are the only Kenyans who can do that job. We are saying that we should have a change and he can be in that position and do the job. We are saying that they should take the responsibility. view

  • 19 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker for this chance. I knew the late Otieno Kajwang’ as a friend and a schoolmate. Therefore, on behalf of the people of Trans Nzoia, the people of Kwanza Constituency, whom I represent and the FORD(K) Party, which is affiliated to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in Kwanza and Trans Nzoia branches, I want to take this opportunity to thank the people for having given Kajwang’ time to be exposed to people. He, as several people have said, was somebody who was known to everybody. Those who missed his lively rallies actually missed a lot. I was ... view
