  • 13 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, with those few remarks, I want to say that the best we can do now is to blacklist and sanction some of the contractors that I have seen reported here, that are actually fleecing our country. I look forward to having a better Report for 2011/2012 so that we can debate on something that is current. view
  • 13 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, I support the Report as it is. Thank you. view

  • 11 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I want to say right from the outset that I oppose this Motion for some reasons. The fact that this Motion has come at this time means that it is misplaced. Right now, for one to set up a nursery school, primary school, secondary school or any technical school, one has to get a certificate from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. So, as it has been said by most hon. Members, saying that the standards of education in Kenya are low is not correct. I think they are living in a different world and ... view
  • 11 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I am talking about education standards of today. view
  • 11 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, it is still applicable now. I think that is with a light touch. I hope you do not mean what you are saying. I have got a Masters Degree in Economics, for your information. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 11 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, that is the case even now. For example, I have got my niece who graduated in a neighbouring state. She came back to the country with a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology but she cannot find a job. That is true even for the other neighbouring state. However, a guy with a Kenyan Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology can be picked for a job. If you compare the two degrees, you will find that our standards are very high. Anyway, that is beside the point. What I am saying is that much as we have this ... view
  • 11 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: This is because it is like now you want to retrench and at the same time you are hiring on the other hand. It beats the purpose. We want to reduce the number of commissions. I will be the first one to actually support the Bill that will come to this House to reduce the number of commissioners because what are they doing? If they are there we want to have them on a part time basis. So, to create another authority here is duplication and, of course, the wage bill is very high. I do not want to reduce ... view
  • 11 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, I want to say I actually oppose this Bill and Members of Parliament let us be serious. We should not support this kind of thing. On a light note, I think let us discuss and debate more serious issues than this one which I think is a misplaced Bill. view
  • 11 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Because I have been given the opportunity, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I oppose this Bill. view
