  • 11 May 2021 in National Assembly: My other point has been talked about by three Members of Parliament. When I was in school, I used to listen to the programme “ Leo Katika Bunge ”. I waited keenly to see who said what like the late Hon. Martin Shikuku and Hon. Cherono. These are people who talked very well. Everybody was interested to listen to what they said. The formulation of Parliamentary Broadcasting Channels is long overdue. Chairman, go ahead and give us the bill of quantities for whatever things you require and we will pass them, so that we can move forward. People need to ... view
  • 11 May 2021 in National Assembly: Somebody called me this morning and told me that they had a funeral. He also asked me where I was. He does not know that this is the time that I am supposed to be here. They do not even know when we are supposed to be here. With these Parliamentary Broadcasting Channels, we will inform the public on some of these issues. The Chairman said that we only have one person from Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. This will also offer employment to our youths. Because of the presentations, most of our youths will be trained and then take part. Ten ... view

  • 23 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I also take this opportunity to say that the State Department of Registration of Persons should be directed by this House to start registering youths over the country. I come from Trans Nzoia and we have very many youths who lack opportunities because they do not have ID cards. Therefore, I take this opportunity to thank Hon. Duale for bringing up this Petition. It affects everybody which you can see from the contributions in this House. So, the officers from the State Department of Registration of Persons should get out of their comfort zones and register the youths ... view
  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I want to agree with the Majority Whip. I am a Member of the Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock and I know that these products have not been exhaustively discussed by my Committee. I speak on behalf of the Committee. We know the product, but we have to discuss and know more about it before we schedule it. He has jumped the gun and the best he can do is to bring this to the Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock so that public participation on the same can happen. We should not be in ... view
  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I take this opportunity to thank my brother Hon. Peter Kaluma for coming up with this Bill. There are wars and battles out there. Once a spouse passes on, a problem begins. I thank Hon. Kaluma for coming up with this clarity so that we know exactly who is supposed to claim the estate of a deceased person. There are different types of marriages: Islamic, customary and Christian. The shortcoming is that we have not had clarity. Once a man dies, brothers, step-brothers and cousins come in to be part and parcel of the family. They ... view
  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I can see that the Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Livestock, as well as the former Chairman are present. I want to thank Hon. Tandaza for coming up with this Bill. As a country, we have to be serious. I am saying this because I see that the current and the previous Chairs of the Committee are here. We have to be serious as a country and, if possible, have some resolutions to streamline the Ministry of Agriculture in doing some of the important things that everybody ... view
  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: is a shortage of milk in this country. This leaves me wondering what is happening to the parastatals that are supposed to be supportive of this sector. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, we have a serious issue. The Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock, in which I also sit, should have a different approach with a view of coming up with solutions that can help streamline the Ministry of Agriculture. What is happening at our research centres? Nothing! Some of them have closed down. For example, the research centre at Bukura Irrigation Scheme in Western Kenya is dead. When I was ... view
