  • 19 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I have been seated here listening and I think this amendment is very timely. However, I wish the Leader of the Majority Party could have made it six months. The three months is too soon and I think they will get away with it. It should be six months because I know some outgoing governors will misuse this. The Leader of the Majority Party, if you could make a further amendment to Clause 8 and change it to six months, I will be very happy and comfortable. view
  • 12 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want at the outset to say that I support this Bill. It is pathetic. Last weekend I went to a funeral and two ex-Members of Parliament were trying to greet me and yet I did not know who they were. It is so pathetic. And I said: What mistake did I make to be a Member of Parliament. They looked so pale and so worn out. The guy I was sitting next to told me that the two guys were Members of Parliament at some point. I do not want to ... view

  • 12 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: of Parliament to at least raise that figure. Compared to what the Executive is paid, compared to what public participation does with the money that you and I pay in form of taxes, the money that is wasted out there… I am talking with passion because we have done a lot of injustice. The Akiwumi Commission did very well. I remember I was in this House when this matter was proposed but time was not in our hands, we could not do anything and it lapsed. I suggest and I want to make it very clear that when it comes ... view
  • 12 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: When it comes to the Third Reading, we should do amendment. I do not want to talk much but that is important. Our MPs who are serving their first terms will be as badly affected as view

  • 12 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: those who were there between 1984 to 2001. So, I support this Bill and hope that we will amend it when it comes to the Third Reading. When I bring my amendment, it will not be from the blues but it will be because of what we have seen out there. People ask you for as little as Kshs 500 and they are not even driving. They used to have the Peugeot 504s but not anymore because they are parked. I remember in one of the homes of a former MP from Bungoma, I saw two Peugeots - the old ... view
  • 12 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: So, with those few remarks, I support this amendment Bill and look forward to amending it to have additional money when it comes to the Third Reading. I thank you. view
  • 7 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I rise to support this Motion. I wish to remind the House that South Africa and Kenya have had a long history of technological co-operation. I can remember because I read the history of this country that South Africans trekked all the way and ended up into my county of Trans-Nzoia. That is where they landed. I think that is the farthest they went towards the north. Of course, they started farming there. Most of the farming technology came from South Africa. As my colleague has just mentioned, we had a problem in Mombasa where we were unable ... view
  • 30 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity. I also take this opportunity to wish every success to the candidates both in primary and secondary schools in Kwanza and Endebess as my colleague has said. May they do well. My neighbour will have time to wish his people success. I do not know them. I take this opportunity to remind our farmers of the Swahili saying that goes: Umoja ni view
