Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I am talking to you. Two, we want to see that people who are going to the Middle East are those who understand what they are going to do. We have cases, and one of the Members from Mombasa said it and it is true, where some girls go to the Middle East and take over homes. Some of them are thrown out through the balcony. My niece was thrown through the balcony and broke her arm and back. She is now disabled. We want the Committee to tell us: This is what we have done. ...

Last but not least, the Committee should accept the fact that our people in Saudi Arabia are suffering. If you went there and met our diplomats in posh hotels, that does not tell you the story; it is more than what we have heard. I have been there more than twice. People come asking me to give them youths to go and work in the Middle East. Let us do more than what the Committee has recommended so that, as a country, we can do well. We were number two in the whole world in sports. So, we could be ...

So, the Committee ought to have recommended vetting of briefcase agents. They must have certificates, so that it is known that such a person is an agent and can help our youths to get employment. Otherwise, like my sister, I support, but I would like the Committee to do more than what they have done. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker.

I take this opportunity to thank the Committee Chair for bringing this up and, particularly the reduction of taxation on imported materials for building and musical equipment. This way, we will be able to improve the talent that this country is having. Eventually, it will create employment for the youth. I support.

Hon. Deputy Speaker, I hear what the Leader of the Majority Party is saying. This is something of great importance to this country, given what we are seeing in Mombasa. We cannot just wish it away. What we are seeing in Mombasa is very grave for this country. Thousands of people are being laid off. As it is today, there are so many people out there, almost 16 million, who have no jobs. We are now saying that the directive has been suspended. People get their daily bread from SGR operations. They have been put aside just because of SGR. ...

. As a Kenyan, I am sad about it. It is something that we cannot wish away. Whether the Cabinet Secretary comes here or meets the Committee and says it has been suspended, he would be wrong. He is in a comfort zone. Give this Committee time to look at what is happening in Mombasa because Kenyans are suffering. There are no jobs. Therefore, I agree with Hon. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor.

Nassir that whether the Cabinet Secretary came and said what he said, - I also agree with Hon. Duale - please, look at the fate of Kenyans in this country. They are suffering.

Thank you. I take this opportunity to thank the Chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee. I think the problem is that the committees come up with the Budget midstream. Somehow the budgets are actually cut without due reference to what the departmental committees have done. Therefore, I suggest that the way forward for this is to have monitoring and evaluation in each committee so that we can fast-track whatever is supposed to be done on a quarterly basis so that they report the progress and the achievement of whatever target we have set. I suggest that instead of waiting ...

Hon. Speaker, I would like to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation the following Question: Considering that in 2015 the World Health Organisation provided evidence of link between glyphosate exposure and non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, and that several countries have since banned or restricted use of glyphosate-based herbicides including Round-Up due to health concerns- (i) Could the Cabinet Secretary provide the guidelines, if any, issued by the Pest Control Products Board on the usage of glyphosate-based herbicides, including the measures being pursued to control the use of such herbicides? (ii) Could the Cabinet Secretary indicate the quantities and ...
