Florence Kajuju

Florence was at one point the vice chairperson of Law Society of Kenya (LSK). During her campaigns she overcame all odds to win against the strong Alliance Party of Kenya (APK) wave in her backyard. The impetus to seek a platform to represent the people of Meru was created by the pro bono cases she undertook in the years she practiced law in Meru.

  • 28 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: States of America (USA) for seeing the power in women and the youth. He said that what we have today is the life that we have borrowed from our youth. So, we have to make use of what we have today because the youth are there and we have to show them the way. The visit of the President of the USA is very important. He spoke about security and said that his county is going to support Kenya to deal with the issues that we have dealt with so much on our own in as far as terrorism is ... view
  • 9 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker and my Chairman for donating this moment. I support this amendment and note that this body was a transitional body that was supposed to assist the Judiciary and Kenyans in general to restore the confidence in the Judiciary that was lacking by the time we passed the Constitution in 2010. We know that there are very many judges and magistrates who are awaiting promotion upon the successful completion of their vetting. We want to believe that once that is done then they are going to be in their positions. This vetting Board must know that ... view
  • 9 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: Yes, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I will share with my brother. I want to thank Members for accepting the call to honour Prof. Kaimenyi by rejecting the petition. We want to believe that he will be better when we come back from recess. I would also like to congratulate the President for starting the war on alcoholism. As we were seated here, we received a message via 411 which said that several people have died in Kiambu County due to withdrawal symptoms. It is an undertaking of the Jubilee government to ensure it has rehabilitation centres. That is going to ... view
  • 9 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: Let me also take this opportunity to wish my Muslim brothers a happy Ramadhan and when the time comes, we will all celebrate the Eid-Fitr together. I thank you all. Hon. Members, take your time, relax and come back rejuvenated. view

  • 8 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Hon. Speaker. I just want to know whether it is in order for the Leader of the Minority Party to state that the Leader of the Majority Party is arrogant. Is that parliamentary language? view
  • 8 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: What Hon. Duale said was that he is handsome. You can never kill a man because he is handsome. You can only accept it. Arrogance cannot be measured by any standards. Thank you, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 7 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to second this Bill. EACC is a very important commission in the Republic of Kenya, especially when we have to do deal with very many issues, including the challenges of devolution. We have looked at the amendments as a Committee and arrived at a unanimous decision that it is important that the commissioners serve on a part-time basis, so that they are also able to participate and work efficiently when they have a sitting. Under Article 250 of the Constitution, each commission should have, at least, three and not more than nine commissioners. However, ... view
  • 30 Jun 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for providing an equal opportunity to all of us. I stand to support this Bill as proposed by the Committee and Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government. It is a very well thought-out Bill that looks at an industry that most people - and even we legislators - have not looked into so that we can take care of our community. Guards have been protecting our lives and yet, we have not done much about them. I have looked at this Bill. It is a good Bill. The opening remarks of this ... view
  • 25 Jun 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. Let me say that after looking at Members from western Kenya who are in this House and listening to their submissions to this House on why that money must go to western and to Mumias Sugar Company in particular, I felt so moved.
