Florence was at one point the vice chairperson of Law Society of Kenya (LSK). During her campaigns she overcame all odds to win against the strong Alliance Party of Kenya (APK) wave in her backyard. The impetus to seek a platform to represent the people of Meru was created by the pro bono cases she undertook in the years she practiced law in Meru.

If you look at the other Acts that are proposed to be amended, you will find that most of them only seek that the previous laws comply with the Constitution. I have noted the issues raised in the preamble by the Majority Leader, and second this Statute Law (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill; it is an omnibus Bill. I would like to say that it is a proper Bill that is before this House. I seek the support of the Members.

On a point of order, hon. Speaker. The Member is being disrespectful to the ladies who are born in one region and get married in another region. It is not fair. Is it, therefore, in order for the Member to refer to some persons in the list as having names after other names from other regions? It is not fair.

In the report that this House passed from the ad-hoc Committee on Miraa, one of the issues that we recommended as a House was that the Crops Act be amended under Schedule IV to make Miraa one of the scheduled crops.
