• 4 May 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to inform the Member that most of the works are already in progress. I am aware and he can notice this when he is on the main Nakuru- Nairobi highway, he would be seeing a contractor on Oginga Odinga Road building that road. The same applies to the other roads. So, I want to assure him that already, the works are in place and the contractors are already working. view

• 24 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, while apologising to the House, I want also to apologise to the people of Kitui Central and Kitui West. From what I have said, there is hope that maybe in the next financial year, we will be discussing and finding ways and means of allocating more money to that road. The money we have given is merely meant for spot improvement on that road and the approach roads to the bridge. view

• 23 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) My Ministry has commissioned a consultant to design the road to bitumen standards. We expect that the consultant will report by April this year. Thereafter, the road will be considered for upgrading to bitumen standards on priority basis in 2011/2012 Financial Year. (b) The estimated cost of the works will be known when the design is completed. view

We do not have money waiting for a road to be constructed. We work in terms of financial years. In our Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, we have planned to have it in the year 2011/2012. This has placed into perspective all the roads in the country taking into account the economic status of each road by way of the economic value of an area and traffic. I want to indicate that yes, indeed, this particular section connects Malaba, which is a border post, to Busia, which is also a border post. • 23 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: (a) I am aware that Kimende-Kagwe-Githunguri Road is in need of urgent repair. I am also aware that the Constituency Roads Committee, where the Member is a member has set aside Kshs1 million for routine maintenance of the said road. view
