  • 28 Apr 2021 in Senate: came to them from the public. The people have spoken about the Bill before us. So, I agree that we be given time so that we have an opportunity to interact with the report. This is because some of us have had the opportunity to look at it while others have not. That will enrich the thinking of the Members when contributing to the Bill. So, I support the suspension of the House so that we get more time. view
  • 28 Apr 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for according me this opportunity to brief the House on what I have been doing since the House was suspended to give us an opportunity to go and read the Bill and the Report of the Committee and get back to this Chamber at 2.30 p.m. to debate on the same. Mr. Speaker, Sir, the few hours I have been in the hands of my good brother, Mr. Kinoti, has not been one of the best experiences, to say the least. I must thank this House. I thank you and the Members of Parliament who ... view

  • 23 Mar 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for this opportunity. With a lot of respect and humility, I want to congratulate the Senator for Machakos County, Sen. Kavindu Muthama. I want to take this opportunity to tell the women fraternity and to give them advice that, being a woman is not a disability. Being a woman, you have equal power and strength to that of a man. What men can do; women can do better. Mr. Speaker, Sir, this House, through the election of Madam Kavindu Muthama, just like Sen. Khaniri said, we have now been able to acquire the two-thirds gender ... view

  • 3 Mar 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to support Sen. Khaniri’s Statement. It is worth noting that power outages are not only a common phenomenon in Vihiga. Meru is one of the worst hit counties in terms of power outages despite there being some sub-stations within the county, especially in Maua where I come from. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have stayed without power. I have a generator which runs my house yet I have KPLC next to my door. So, the problem that we are talking about cuts across this country. As the Committee looks into this matter, there are ... view

  • 3 Mar 2021 in Senate: Yes, I am a hustler. I am proud to be one, because I have hustled to where I am. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I do not know whether you have heard the Chair of the Committee on Energy suggesting that they are going to write a letter to the National Treasury seeking exemption for KPLC to buy transformers from whichever country they want. I would like the Chair to tell tthis House whether he is a part of the cartels. We have a lot of respect for the Chairperson because he is my personal friend. Whether he is a part of ... view
