  • 25 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: one to see whether we can have efficiency and balance. Some corners of the county have water while others do not have. In as much as I do not support that move because it is against the spirit of devolution, I support the Motion so that other than consolidating water services to provide efficiency, we also need to look at how we can increase the volume of the water that is available so that it can reach those without water. One of the things we need to do is harvest and store water. We should take initiatives to encourage household ... view
  • 25 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: As we speak, in Thika Town in my county, we have serious floods affecting our people. It is sad that during the dry spells, Thika is one of the towns that have serious water shortages. If we could provide these tanks at a subsidised cost, I am sure we will not be having a water problem because it will be stored somewhere. I take this opportunity to support the Motion and congratulate Hon. G.K. for coming up with it. Although, as I support it, I am not very excited as a woman having seen one of our colleagues, a man ... view
  • 25 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, earlier on I had called upon men, so that they protect their egos and big names, to make sure that they accommodate more women in their lives so that the women can tame them because sometimes they need to be tamed. Recently, and as late as yesterday, we saw many disgusting video clips circulating in the social media of one “able” man filmed in a very embarrassing situation in a room with a woman apparently who is having a side affair. I am a very embarrassed Kenyan leader woman because these are not some of the ... view
  • 21 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Finally, the Members here are laughing because I have been wondering how long I am going to wait to join this very energising debate. I am one of the victims who have really suffered out of what we call cyber molestation, cyber bullying and cyber stalking. This is where people follow you and they are interested in how you smile and laugh. They go ahead to make a story out of all that. I also happened to be a big victim, barely one week as a Member of Parliament, when I gave out my ... view
  • 21 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: I remember very well I attended a discussion on a national television and I gave my opinion just like any other Kenyan would. Just a clip of what I said was used by bloggers and I was persecuted, judged and jailed. I was jailed because I went through a lot of emotional challenges and even wondered whether that is what it meant to be a Member of Parliament. I thank God he gave me sufficient grace to sustain the smile and get the energy to continue working for the people of the great County of Kiambu. I am sure they ... view
  • 21 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: As a parent, I am more excited to note that this Bill has facilitated an opportunity for us to protect our children from child pornography and has provided a clear roadmap on remedies to protect our naïve children from material that is not vetted that lures them into absurd religious practices and immoral behaviours. Therefore, I rise to support this Bill so that it can materialise into a law that can guide us on how to run our economy. view
  • 30 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I really wanted to give my input into this debate in realisation that I have been serving in the media industry for more than 20 years and having interacted with many artists from the field of music, film, programmes for broadcast and even Information, Education and The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 30 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: Communication (IEC) material, I feel that I have a responsibility to give my input into this Amendment Bill, more so, to support the amendments that are in this Bill. view
  • 30 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: First of all, it is good for us to come to terms that most of those people we call creative in Kenya for the last 30 or so years, have been subject to a lot of infringement when it comes to the revenues that are supposed to be dedicated to their work, basically because there has not been a good and clear framework on how to protect their royalties, their creative ideas, and how to assist them in catalysing design development, packaging and rebroadcast and airing of their materials, including distribution. Therefore, I am very excited to read the Bill ... view
  • 30 Nov 2017 in National Assembly: I am therefore very excited to note that the Bill has given clear guidelines and a framework on how to protect artists from the piracy in the industry. I am also very excited because the Bill seeks to promote fair dealing. We have had a lot of tussles; we have seen a lot of demonstrations in our City of Nairobi, where artists have been demonstrating that there are certain categories of corporate clients who have not been honouring their pledges in terms of what is supposed to be paid to them. So, the aspect of promotion of fair dealing in ... view
