  • 18 Sep 2018 in Senate: I actually need to do that since we are birthday mates. You remember last year we celebrated it in Naivasha and it was quite great. We got the happy birthday cake from the Senate. Let me go back to the statement. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I commend the---. view
  • 18 Sep 2018 in Senate: Yes, we celebrated together with the entire Senate. I did not even expect a birthday cake from the Senate team. Thank you very much Naivasha team. Mr. Speaker, Sir, back to the business of the House, I commend Governor Sonko for what he did. The fact that he went to the Pumwani Maternity Hospital in cognito was quite commendable and very good for a governor. He was able to see what exactly happens on the ground without using a proxy, agent or anyone telling him what is happening in the county. I was born in Pumwani Maternity Hospital, and I ... view
  • 13 Sep 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, thank you for giving me the opportunity to add my voice to this Motion. Kindly, allow me to condole with the family of Ms. Sharon who passed on. On behalf of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), my family and myself, I condole with this family. My prayer is that justice will not be delayed in this case. I support the Motion that seeks to appoint Sen. Outa to the Committee on Health. The fact that he desires and has expressed interest to be in the Committee tells us that he will be a committed Member. He will give ... view
  • 13 Sep 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, thank you very much for the opportunity. I support the nomination of Hon. Chepkong’a to the Parliamentary Service Commission. Most of the time, you will find that when candidates appear before a panel, the panel knows nothing about them but sometimes the referees can be their voice. We have heard many referees here with regard to Hon. Chepkong’a and the references point out that he merits serving in the Commission. Regarding credentials, he has the papers and what it takes. Apart from the papers, because of the wealth of experience that he has, it will enable him ... view
  • 13 Sep 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me the opportunity. I rise to support Sen. Cheruiyot on the extension of time for the Committee. Farmers play a big role in this country and we cannot actually belittle the contributions that they have towards the economic development of our country. • 13 Sep 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I rise to second this Motion which is quite valid. I commend Sen. Kasanga for coming up with it because it addresses the common mwananchi especially the youth of this country. This Motion needs to go far. Motorcycles are on the increase everywhere. The motorcycle industry is a booming industry in Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania and many parts of the world. The motorcycle is a preference for many Kenyans especially in the rural areas. When we talk of devolution with regard to motorcycles, this industry needs to benefit from devolution by all means. When we look ... view

  • 11 Sep 2018 in Senate: premises. There is need to enforce them to ensure that entrepreneurs are protected because they are paying high rents. Most of the time when someone leases a business premise, the goodwill is very high and he ends up taking loans to pay it. Once he starts his business and it thrives, the landlord gets canny and ends up increasing the rent. This is painful for an entrepreneur who had taken a loan to start the business. Madam Temporary Speaker, we need to protect entrepreneurs because they contribute a lot to the economy of this country. They also assist in creating ... view
  • 9 Aug 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me an opportunity to add my voice to this Statement. I want to start by thanking Sen. Khaniri for this Statement. It is a Statement that is relevant and valid at this point in time, in Kenya. The issue of electricity bills is of great concern and we need to see how we can help Kenyans as a Senate. Electricity bills are extremely high to the point that you will still find yourself paying a high bill even when you do not use electricity to pump water, bake or iron. One will still ... view
