  • 30 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: As other Members have a lot of fear on NLC, I also feel that it is an important commission that should not be wished away. I am a victim of circumstances. Last week, we saw a Gazette Notice published by the Ministry of Environment, showing that a full location in my constituency was hived off and annexed to be a forest. That is against the wishes of the local people. We have since been fighting as a county to ensure that, that injustice does not happen in this era, when we have leadership from the county level all the way ... view
  • 30 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: halting the process of annexation. They have done this in writing. That has saved our communities from fighting. We will be working together as a team and, in the process, bring sanity to both sides. People will sit and agree on what to do with their land. The other issue is about compensation. The funds that have been allocated as compensation to the Ministries in charge are not clear. It is not clear who will be compensated and when they will be compensated. We need to introduce some amendments. With those remarks, I support. view

  • 10 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for protecting me from the good Member for Muhoroni. In our constituencies, women and youth are going through difficult times when it comes to getting loans from banks. The banks have made it impossible for them to get any money. With the high interest rates that they are charged, they are unable to do any business especially in the rural areas. The rate at which banks are charging is expensive and too high for the people. We now have the rainy season and farmers want to prepare their farms. They cannot do any anything ... view
  • 25 Feb 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for the opportunity that you have given to me. I also want to add my voice to the Motion that is before us this afternoon. The function of the TA was to fully interpret the Constitution and determine the functions that would be fully transferred to the county government vis-a-vis the functions that would remain with the national Government. Looking at the functions of the TA, there are a lot of functions that the national Government shares with the county government such as education. Water, health and agriculture functions have been transferred to the ... view
