  • 22 May 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. First of all, I want to say that my Question has appeared four times and the Minister has been going round. Secondly, I am the Vice-Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing. We have gone round the country and found out that in most constituencies, projects under the Economic Stimulus Programme, under Ministry of Local Government, have not been done. There is a rip-off because, for example, in my case where they have only done the foundation, they say that they have paid 45 per cent of ... view
  • 15 May 2012 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Local Government:- (a) if he is aware that the fresh produce market projects, funded under the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) at Ikutha stalled at the foundation stage; and (b) what measures the Minister will take to ensure that the project is completed. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this Question appeared earlier and there were some issues which were raised. The Minister was to come back with answers amongst them the exact completion date of this specific project and the status of all the fresh produce markets in the country. Those were the issues. view

  • 2 May 2012 in National Assembly: Thank you Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I wish to congratulate the President for the Speech that he gave. I would like to say that he, indeed, touched on the main issues of the country, ranging from the economy, infrastructure and other key aspects like security. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would also like to congratulate the President for the work that he has done in the nine years that he has been the Chief Executive of this country. He has done a lot to improve the infrastructure. However, while I appreciate that, I would like to say that ... view
  • 2 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to urge the Government through the Ministry of Environment and Natural resources to address the issue of minerals in this country. We are now becoming aware that we have a lot of mineral potential in this country. But the present Mineral Act says only 15 per cent of mineral proceeds will benefit the local county while the 85 per cent benefits the national Government. This means that the wealth from minerals in those areas will benefit the national Government more than the local population. We are aware that if there is mining in ... view
  • 2 May 2012 in National Assembly: With those remarks, I beg to support. view
  • 25 Apr 2012 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I, first of all, want to confirm that in December, last year we visited that area with the Minister, hon. Bett; hon. Kiema Kilonzo and hon. Ngilu. The Minister, indeed, said that he will make sure that the road is maintained properly. I was there last week and the work which is being done is shoddy. It is as if this is a Class “C” Road. Could the Assistant Minister take this matter seriously and have these sections of the road tarmacked? view
