14 Sep 2017 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, I think the new Senators will also have to learn the tricks of speaking quickly in this Parliament as being part of it. I give my support for the Adjournment Motion. I support this Adjournment Motion. We seek to adjourn so that we can familiarize ourselves with the Standing Orders and how the Senate conducts its affairs. I believe that it would be an insightful moment. I also believe that we will bond because we are just getting to know each other. The spirit or what is called esprit de corps of this

14 Sep 2017 in Senate:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, it will be very good so that we can have an opportunity to reflect. Also during that meeting many Senators will also have an opportunity to define the various tools that we can use to present issues on the Floor of the House; how to expedite and execute the mandate that they have been given to represent people and their counties in terms of Bills, Motions, Statements and Petitions that would benefit Kenyans. On a light note, we have had conversations outside this august House. Deliberations have been made around the venue of this induction. We have ...

13 Sep 2017 in Senate:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to speak to the Address of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya. This is also my maiden speech in this august House, having come from the National Assembly. It is a very unfamiliar territory because some of us used to be involved in the contestation as to which is the Upper and the Lower House. I honestly did not have any intention of coming to this House but I have found myself here. Sometimes, it is also very good to be measured when you are directing certain epithets because you may end ...

31 Aug 2017 in Senate:
Mr. Clerk, if you hear the submissions that have been made on the Floor of this August House, you think there is a candidate deemed to win. Nothing can be further from the truth. However, every candidate who has presented himself for this exercise stands a chance to be elected scrutiny by virtue of the votes that we will cast. Article Seven of the Constitution on Fair Administrative Action is very clear. I would want to imagine of that same law, that it is very clear in the provisions on enabling legislation. We must exhaust all means of appeal if ...

15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I wish to take this opportunity to thank you most sincerely for your leadership as our Speaker. Of course, I knew before I came to this Parliament that it was exciting to see the way you took up the new role as the Speaker of the 11th Parliament. I would also want to commend the Leader of the Majority Party because of the good work he has done in defending his forte. He was very well versed in very many issues and, I think, that must also be commended. I also commend the de facto Leader ...

15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly:
first ever caucus of people with disabilities (KEDIPA) just trying to make sure that our voice has actually been heard. Others include engaging governments in terms of creating programmes that will be inclusive, for example, the very successful inclusion of persons with disabilities in the National Youth Service (NYS) through use of a platform like the Budget and Appropriations Committee. This has more than doubled the allocations to persons with disabilities from Kshs770 million to Kshs1.8 billion. Legislative proposals have since been passed like increasing the retirement age of persons with disabilities from 60 to 65 years; equating Kenyan sign ...
