  • 4 Apr 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I beg to reply. (a) The contract sum for the Kericho Bus Park is Kshs58,797,427.50. (b) No, the project had not stalled. However, the progress had slowed as the contractor waited for re-design of a major retaining wall within the bus park. (c) There are no immediate plans to build a bus park at Litein. However, this may be considered in future development plans by the Ministry of Local Government. view

The re- design was necessitated because there were mud slides within the market area and there was a need to re-design the project so that we have a retaining wall which can stop the mudslides from coming into the market. The design is complete and the project is on course. view

Many of them have been completed and if the hon. Member wants to know, we will show him where they are. However, for those projects which have been slowed down as a result of the re-design as a necessity, like in the case of Kericho Bus Park, we will ensure that they are completed within the shortest time possible. view

Already there are traffic lights within the major townships namely: Nairobi, Kisumu, November 28, 2006 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 3961 Mombasa, Nakuru and Eldoret. There are plans to install new traffic lights while at the same time renovation of the non-functional ones within the urban centres is continuing in order to enhance the smooth flow of vehicles.
