  • 19 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Chair, I want to say that I agree with Leader of Majority Party. We have issues with this Bill from both sides of the House. This House has a history of occasionally making bad laws because we are rushing towards nothing. This is not something that must happen today. Both sides of the House have agreed that we need to do this when people have the energy. I had said earlier this afternoon that this Bill, the immediate effect of it, is breakage of marriages. I want to tell you--- You can see some disagreements even of religious nature because people have to hold on to their traditions and we want to do this. Otaalo is very dear to many people in many parts of the country. I would want to request further that the Departmental Committee requests the Government to provide this House with an audit of how the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) monies were spent on fish farming and the successes or failure of it before we inject further monies in this failed programme.
