  • 10 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am happy that today it is happening in my lifetime; I am seeing the Judiciary reform. We want the Director of Public Prosecutions’ Office also to reform and not to be political. We want the police to follow suit. It is very important that when we see anti-corruption police go and break the window of hon. Dr. Gesami at midnight--- Hon. Members of Parliament can be criminals, but they cannot refuse to adhere to the law. So, it is a daunting task for this Commission which we are forming. This should be an elite group to ... view
  • 10 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, hon. Dr. Gesami, if you called him, he would present himself to court. We cannot form a Commission which will be high-handed; which politicians will use to fight other politicians. We cannot allow that. Let me say this to the Commission which we are approving; that this House will do the same thing which we have done to the other one if they will not do their job correctly. We will do it to protect Kenyans, not only hon. Members of Parliament, because it is time to change this country. It is time to change and all ... view
  • 10 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, with those very many remarks, I beg to support. view
  • 9 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to know from the Prime Minister what the Government is planning if the elections were to be held on 4th March. How will the Government deal with the school calendar? Further, if there was a re-run which would happen on 4th April, how would the Government deal with the school calendar? The first term is the foundation for the final year in school. This is what the parents are saying and I do not think that we can ignore what Kenyans are telling us will affect them. This will affect a whole generation in our ... view
  • 9 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, this is a great step. As you know the whole region is waiting for us to complete this process. Let me thank the Chair and the Committee--- view
  • 9 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I thought I listened to the Speaker properly. I just wanted to thank the Committee for putting something where there was nothing. Five years or six years ago we were victims of a very lawless nomination of Members of this particular Parliament. Thanks to God that the court has brought sanity to the Government and this Parliament. I remember the former Chief Whip Mr. Norman Nyagah, saying that he was the law and anybody he picked would go and surely he did that. Hopefully now nobody will be the law. The law shall be the ... view
  • 2 May 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. In relation to the same Statement sought by Mr. Mbadi, I wish that when the question is answered that the issue of the same person, Mr. Thuo, be addressed in the wider picture of the claims of assassinations on other political leaders, including Maina Njenga, who is the Mungiki leader and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya. We want to--- view
  • 2 May 2012 in National Assembly: I will do so tomorrow, Mr. Speaker, Sir. view
  • 15 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Chairman, Sir, as it appears, the debate has turned into legal jargons. The more I listen to our Attorney-General, the more it strikes me that nothing is changing in our country. It is a shame that the Attorney-General should say that if nothing is contemplated in the Constitution, it is for the President to decide. We cannot seek to make laws away from the only lawmaking organ of this country. It has been said by hon. Imanyara that a law already exists – the National Police Service Act. The memorandum clearly says that this is contrary to that. What ... view
  • 15 Mar 2012 in National Assembly: One other thing is that, this amendment was brought here by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government. This is one Government. It is a shameful public display which we are giving to Kenyans; that one arm of Government brings an amendment and the law makers approve it. The President in his wisdom assents to it and then the same Government comes back to say that the law is contrary to its wishes. Mr. Chairman, Sir, we are not doing a good public display to our people. We need to resolve this issue. I urge you to decide ... view
