  • 8 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for allowing me to contribute to this very important Bill - the Sugar Bill. I want to thank Hon. Wafula Wamunyinyi for thinking keenly and working hard to bring this very important document to support and put our farmers back on track. First, I like the way the Board is constituted. Out of around 11 members of the Board, five are from the outgrower section which is composed of farmers. We have an extra one from accounts which I suspect will come from the farmers’ section. This puts the farmers in the ... view
  • 8 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: I support the Bill and thank Hon. Wamunyinyi for bringing this serious Bill that is going to support our people. Without forgetting, even the Board that we have here should have a fund established to take care and cushion the employees. We have millers who have gone for 12 months without paying their employees’ salaries. One is Nzoia Sugar Company from Bungoma. Employees there have gone for over 11 months without a salary. How do you expect such people to perform? We must have a Board that will set aside a fund that will cushion our mills. Thank you, Hon. ... view
  • 7 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I also want to add my input on this sporting petition. I agree with the petition because exercise for any animal or human being adds life. If you look at those who do serious exercise, they keep fit, live long and sometimes they perform their brainwork very well. That is why I rise to support the petition. When you ingest food into the body, and this has become a petition in our country that we are bringing up a lazy nation. I remember in the 1980s and 1990s, people walked for long distances to go and ... view
  • 6 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to support this very important Petition. Environment is life, environment is love, and environment is everything a man and all the living things like. I give serious support to this Petition because when you move around the world, you see a lot of naming of that very important lady called Prof. Wangari Maathai. • 6 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: When visitors come to this country, they should find serious areas where they can visit and enjoy places called Wangari Maathai. I also believe that we should take it seriously and try as much as possible and name a place in honour of people who are still alive. Living people who have made history must be given respect. We must name places after them so that when they are alive, they know where they are marked. In the same spirit, I want to name one of the beautiful rocks in Kabuchai Hills, EGH Justin Muturi. That is because the people ... view
