If that is so, then it is important for Members. We are not all tax experts, but we have to contribute. We need to get a proper explanation of the new one that is going to be proposed to replace this one. We cannot make a decision which is dependent on something that will be proposed and we still do not know. So, even without going ahead, let us get that explanation then we move on.

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I must first start by appreciating the Member of Parliament who has raised this. We must look at this in the environment in which this is happening. What we are seeing now is arresting people at the end of the week with the idea of detaining them the whole week, arresting people using excessive force and denying them bail. We know that we like the fight against corruption but it is my fear that what we are doing now is actually intimidating people and diverting attention from the problems ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker. To start with, I must congratulate the Committee. For the first time, I have seen a very clear report on regulations which has been well summarised telling us exactly where they have made changes. For example, they have annulled this one for very good reasons. The other comment that I must make is that they have looked at the relationship between the county and the national Government. Thank you, Hon. Speaker. To me, we have two elements here. There is illegal importation of sugar. That is what we are handling and I think the select committee or whatever committee is decided on, will do the job. I am sure it will take time. There is something that worries me. People have talked about contamination with lead and copper. Unless we know that is a joke, that is an urgent matter that I do not think can wait for the committee to work. There is need to find out. Do we have copper and mercury in this sugar? ...

If this was cholera, we would all be saying that something should be done. Unless Members are aware that it is just politics and the sugar is not contaminated. That is my concern.
