  • 29 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Then we have the so called consideration for the senior counsel. I know very well that this Bill was done with the consent of most senior counsel members, including my very good friend the Attorney-General (AG). I think he was looking for an opportunity for his friends. They are only 21 people but the laws are being made for 40 million Kenyans. We do not want things that people tailor-make for their interests, or the interests of their friends. Kenyans must refuse to return Kenya to the past, or allow Kenya to belong to a few people. When people are ... view
  • 29 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: parents were able to pay school fees to sustain them during their period, they came back with degrees. When put to test, their degrees were wanting. They were not equal to the task. They were not degrees of substance like what we have here. So, we would like to be given time for people to interrogate these Bills before they appear before this House. I would appeal to my good friend, the AG, that Kenyans have a lot of respect for him and he needs to learn that Kenyans moved. They are no longer the Kenyans who were gullible, and ... view
  • 21 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to speak to this important Bill, as fronted by my very good friend, Hon. Aghostinho Neto. I regretfully oppose this Bill in view of the fact that currently, Kenya is undergoing a serious economic crunch. Those in positions of responsibility have told us that the economy is not performing. One of the reasons they are giving is that there is bloated staffing. There is an intention to offload some public servants. This Bill is coming at a time when Kenya will be ill- prepared to absorb any ... view
  • 21 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: It is not the best time to come up with this Bill. My good friend, hon. Aghostinho Neto, should hold his horses until the economy is healed either by God or by hardworking Kenyans one day. I oppose the Bill. view
  • 15 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you very much Hon. Speaker for giving me an opportunity to contribute to this very important Bill which provides the way forward in our justice system. This Bill requires us to make some changes to reinvigorate the very active changes that have already been brought into practise by the current Chief Justice and his team. I want to say that under the current team, this country has been blessed with focused Chief Justice and the Judicial Service Commission (JSC). They have done their best to decentralise the justice system such that people no longer have to travel from Samburu ... view
  • 15 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: to bring prudent changes in the management of our justice system. But, this did not go very far because tribalism took the centre stage as those who were removed from the bench were people who were perceived to be anti-establishment or coming from tribes which were not politically correct. Many of them were people of serious legal resource that Kenyans still needed. In this Bill we will have the Court of Appeal to be headed by the president, who is Justice Kahara. He has tried his best. He is a very focused young man and seasoned lawyer. The team will ... view
  • 14 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. In the past, Parliament has been portrayed as if we want to be special people protecting their interests. Time has come when we must open ourselves to the outside world and behave as Parliamentarians, but as Kenyans while we are out there. There is nothing sinister we are doing here that we cannot allow the office of the DPP and any other Government agencies to come in and investigate. view

  • 7 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. First, I want to declare that I am a Member of this Committee. We very ably looked at this Bill of Hon. Sakaja. I want to say that it is a God sent opportunity because the youth have been left to languish in the cold. The The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
