  • 16 Mar 2016 in Senate: On a point of order, Madam Temporary Speaker. I am quite satisfied with the ruling from the Chair but Statements when sought are not property between the Chair of the Committee and the person who requested the Statement. It becomes the property of the House. There are sub-statements which are very important in which the entire House has an interest. Whereas the person who requested the statement may be given a copy of the response to interrogate it, for the purposes of the rest of the House, for us to have an intervention that is effective, it is important that ... view
  • 16 Mar 2016 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I am interested in the issues that were raised by Sen. Murkomen, because the truth shall make us free. It is true that lawyers - I belong to that profession - have been used as conduits to collect money by making sure that the ‘proper fees’ are scaled up. In some cases, the taxman has come in and the lawyers have lived to regret. Before the NARC Government, the issue of pending bills was established as a big industry. Many people made a lot of money by simply being brokers between public servants and contractors in trying ... view

  • 15 Mar 2016 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I was not going to contribute to a point of order. However, I will go ahead now that Sen. Wetangula has raised this very important issue. The Administration of Oath is a very solemn process. It is normally undertaken with silence. I just witnessed the Administration of Oath in the other House and all Members were standing up. The problem is when you start to invite comments, debate will come which may contaminate the oath that has been taken. For example, if Sen. (Prof.) Lonyangapuo had stood up and said that, as ... view

  • 15 Mar 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, in order to ensure that future generations of people do not take the bad examples that we set on the first day of a Senator, all that should be expunged so that all that is left on record, is how this Senate received and congratulated the new Senator. Otherwise, if there is something --- view

  • 10 Mar 2016 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Just allow me to react a little bit to what the Government Whip has said. The position is that the deputy governor of Mombasa County is working very well with the governor. We were with her during the campaign, sat with her at a venue and had a meal together with my leader here. What you have been seeing in the media is nothing but a figment of your imagination. She is a lady that I have known for a very long time and had no basis to lie to me. ... view
  • 10 Mar 2016 in Senate: Whatever the name. I sat next to her in the counting hall. She showed me those videos on her phone about that lady that you are talking about. We had a good conversation about it but I think now to link that to Governor Joho is most unfortunate. view
