  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, when you see people protesting or doing maandamano, those people want to send signs that they are not satisfied with what is happening. So, it is up to the security apparatus to make sure that they protect each and everybody in this country. Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. view
  • 11 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I have no interest in this one. view
  • 5 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to, at least, contribute to this timely Bill of health concerning the NHIF. This is very important. During those days that people have talked about, like in 1966 – when some of us here had not been born – when I was also an employee of the defunct Kenya Posts and Telecommunication Corporation (KP&TC), the NHIF was not considered for certain cadres of staff. When you were in Scales 10 or 11, you would not be considered for NHIF coverage. When you were in Scales 9, 8 up to ... view
  • 5 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: were sick at that time and taken to hospital, the NHIF would cover your hospital expenses. Again, when you got an accident while at work, you could be compensated. I know my colleagues have exhausted this Bill. I can now go to expectant mothers. We had the Linda Mama Programme. In the last two weeks, I asked the Ministry of Health to bring a Statement on expectant mothers. According to the Ministry of Health, they were paying for their NHIF contributions, but only in particular hospitals. It is not mandatory that you have to go to a certain hospital so ... view
  • 7 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speker, I rise to ask Question No. 205/2021 to the Cabinet Secretary for Health: (i) Could the Cabinet Secretary explain why the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) is yet to remit funds to the Linda Mama Programme since November, 2020? (ii) (ii)What measures has the Ministry put in place to ensure the funds payable by the NHIF are remitted without further delays to ensure the programme fully benefits the intended beneficiaries? view
  • 7 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: Asante sana, Mhe.
  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this chance. I also rise to support the Bill. Some of us are victims. When I lost my late husband, according to our tradition, I was asked to mention each and every thing that we had so that the brothers and sisters of my late spouse could benefit. Having this law in place will help many people. My colleagues who have spoken to the Bill talked about widows. It is true. Widows have really suffered. Some of them normally come to us as leaders and ask us to come to their ... view
  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I know very well that people have so many problems when they divorce and spouses pass on. This law will help them. If the two of you pass on and you leave your kids, I ask Mr. Kaluma to tell us how the beneficiaries will benefit out of that. view
  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Suppose the two spouses pass on and they leave their kids behind, who are the beneficiaries? Some of them are married. I want Hon. Kaluma to tell us how they will handle such a case. view
  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: My worry is about our spouses who are men. They can marry as many wives as they can. A man can have 10 wives. How will you divide that property to these spouses? I want Hon. Kaluma to look into that issue, so that everybody will be comfortable when he or she loses a spouse. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly.
