  • 1 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: My Question No.520/2021 is addressed to the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Arts. (i) What steps is the Ministry taking to implement stringent measures to weed out unregistered travel agents, who dupe young people in to paying hefty sums of money christened as facilitation and registration fees with regard to the upcoming Commonwealth Games and Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup in 2022? (ii) What measures has the Ministry put in place to ensure that Kenyan citizens attending such events are protected from becoming victims of human trafficking and harmful labour practices? The Commonwealth games will be ... view
  • 1 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: I thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The President attended a Session of this House yesterday. In line with the Constitution, he enumerated all the gains he has made for the last eight years he has been in office. He created a pathway for his exit from office next year. He laid a very clear ground for his transition. For that reason, I think all stakeholders in the election exercise next year need to work as one unitary body. It is puzzling that the IEBC, the electoral umpire, disengaged from a committee that was going to create an ... view
  • 1 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: He talked about the enhancement of our social fabrics. It stems from the Handshake that he had with the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga. This is the direction that this country needs to take. On electricity, it is true that they have made gigantic steps. Most of our schools have since been connected with electricity. That is something that we need to step up a little farther so that we light this country and make it a 24-hour economy. In the interest of time, I thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for the opportunity. view
  • 24 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: I thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. Of course there is the biological father, who in this case is the donor but there is also the legal father. The import of this amendment is to put more strength on the legal standing of the father, even in the African context. And that is why when making laws we must recognise our traditions, cultures and the way we live. view
  • 24 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I am a Member of the Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives and when the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI) idea was born, my Committee played a pivotal role towards its success and that is what has brought it into this House today. view
  • 24 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: The KIRDI has its headquarters here in Nairobi and offices in Kisumu, Mombasa and other major towns. It has been doing a lot of projects in Kisii areas and other adjacent towns. Basically, it deals with business incubation. People come up with ideas on a daily basis and KIRDI offers a platform upon which people share with them and consequently get the right information on how to undertake both micro and macro enterprises. view
  • 24 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: All business ideas are good, but doing them is another thing. That is why KIRDI together with what we are doing today needs to be expedited so that the ideas – and they are myriad – our people out there have to undertake business enterprises can be made into practicability. On the flip side, it is sad that a research that was carried out on businesses indicated that every business in Africa tends to have a lifespan of only three years. Only three years! Any business that has gone beyond three years will be successful. So, between the time businesses ... view
  • 24 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: is no longer as juicy as it used to be. If agriculture is the only thing that we are going to remain with or have as our main source of revenue, let all the parameters governing agriculture and trade be enhanced through this most important KIRDI Bill. Any business idea will be shared with KIRDI for success and even for its formation. I reckon the good work that the social media is doing. But, blogging is not work. There are people who have created wonderful platforms such as M-PESA in the social media. It is our biggest achievement as a ... view
  • 23 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Speaker. When you listen to a cartoon in the name of Hon. ole Sankok, you are left baffled. Thank you for that quite elaborate and in-depth analysis of the court findings. I have always believed that if Senators really wanted to be serious, there is a lot of work to be done. view
  • 23 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Yes, I did. He did not have any problem with that because, indeed, he is. However, Hon. Speaker, if we are to make progress, there is a lot of work on the ground for Senators to do. view
