  • 3 Dec 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me a chance to contribute to this important Motion. I support this Motion upfront. I thank the Committee concerned as well as the Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resource for coming up with this kind of proposal. Indian Ocean is being wasted instead of being utilised to generate employment and income for our people. We have some of the best beaches in the world, yet we do not earn from them as much as those other countries which have them. If you compare our beaches in Malindi, Mombasa and Lamu to ... view

  • 3 Dec 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I was just saying that Mauritius makes money and has created much more employment than Kenya, yet it does not have as good beaches as we do in Kenya. We have neglected our beaches. We have allowed them to be insecure and dirty. Those who want to visit them cannot enjoy as much as they used to do. We must safeguard and protect our ocean zone. The coastal zone should be protected. Funds should be allocated to maintain and improve the coastal zone. This must be extended to other areas. I hope the Committee and the ... view

  • 27 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, for giving me a chance to contribute to this important matter. A few months ago, the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, gave an edict that we must destroy all alcoholic drinks that are destroying our youth. I saw many Members, particularly of the Jubilee coalition, destroying all kinds of alcoholic drinks in Dagoretti South, Gatundu South and even in Gucha, where I come from. However, we were not destroying juices and sodas because we were giving the people the option of taking them instead of the hard drinks. ... view
  • 27 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: The people of Kenya would like to take juices. Whenever a visitor comes to my house, my wife, who does not drink – I drink a little – offers them juice or soda. If we make juices and sodas unaffordable to her, what will she offer those guests? view
  • 27 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, there is one more thing. I understand that the Coca-Cola Company wants to move their headquarters from Kenya to another country because of high taxation. This Parliament must ensure that we attract investors in this country and not to expel them. With those few remarks, I support the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade. view
  • 14 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I rise to support this amendment. I would like to tell the entire world that Parliament has risen to occasion, and wants to follow and implement the Constitution of Kenya. Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya clearly lays down the standards State officers and the citizens of Kenya should attain as they carry out their activities. This amendment also shows clearly that we are answerable to the institutions that we have established through this House and the referendum by Kenyans; we must, therefore, behave in a particular manner, and if we do not, ... view
  • 30 Sep 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me a chance to contribute to this important Bill. First, I want to thank the Mover of this Bill. If we enact this Bill, this country will move to the First World. What Singapore did to move from the Third World to the First World was to first train technicians and engineering technologists, people who did not get a degree but a diploma or certificate in special areas. They embarked on industrialization, having technical people who would carry out industrialisation projects. The same thing has been repeated in Malaysia and China in ... view
  • 30 Sep 2015 in National Assembly: Let this Parliament rise up if we want to commit ourselves to move this country from Third World to First World, and create opportunities for our youth who will have the technical knowhow to move us economically to the next world. I beg to support. Thank you. view
