  • 9 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I will conclude in a minute. For us to do this, we shall need to operationalise the Kenya Trade Remedies Agency. Doing that will be in two parts. Parliament, that appropriates monies, will need to appropriate enough monies to ensure that the Agency is operational. The Government shall need to get the right experts, equip them and give them the capacity to be the watchdog of those matters. I beg to move the amendments to the Motion on the Ratification of the Economic Partnership Agreement between Kenya and the United Kingdom. view

  • 9 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, we celebrate you and I stand to thank you for taking up the position that was bestowed to you by the very esteemed NjuriNcheke over the weekend. It is great to note that a man from a very dusty village somewhere in Embu can rise to the position that you have risen to in your life. This is a story that gives hope to many young people who begin from nowhere. I know your story. I know about you going to school without shoes as a young boy. I know your ambition that saw you rise to become ... view
  • 9 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, when you left this House, I had opportunity to be under your chairmanship at the CMD where you encouraged us as very young members of political parties back then to take up the mantle and the mission of changing this country. It was under your watch that we formed the Inter-Party Youth Forum (IPYF). The first of its kind and it was bi-partisan. I was the President of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Youth League and you said to me that the Party of National Union (PNU) only differs with ODM on ideology, but we are all Kenyans. ... view
  • 9 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Your performance in this House has been stellar. You are one of the people celebrated to be a peace maker in this country. These are the things that the Njuri Ncheke must have seen when they were picking an individual of your calibre to be decorated as the one and single spokesman of the region. At a time like this, this country needs tolerance. It is intolerance that leads to the violence such as what we witnessed last week. I, having previously been a victim of election violence, know how we operate in this country. When there is an election ... view

  • 9 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: I believe in the theory of political science that talks about the horseshoe theory, that people from opposing sides might end up meeting because there are no people from two extreme sides of the median, but there are people who have an interest that can converge at a place. You are one of those people who walk on the middle of the road and are bi-partisan. I believe that is why the Njuri Ncheke identified you as one exemplary leader in this country. What we witnessed over the weekend was a lesson to those of us in politics; organic leadership ... view
  • 2 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. In fact, I am very keen to stand and support this Mediated Early Childhood Education Bill that was mediated between the Senate and ourselves. I also want to thank the Committee that has put in some work to ensure that we get to where we are. It is out of their efforts that we are able to critic what they have put on the table. They have actually done a good job. Research has shown that ECE is critical not only in a person’s education, but also in their entire life thereafter. ... view
  • 2 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: important. That debate is what has led to the imbalanced investment in education. If you look across the country, you will be able to compare how we value our ECE by the investment that we have put on ECDE to date. Are we putting as much in ECDE as we have in primary schools? Have we put as much in ECDE as we do in secondary schools? Have we done as much as we do for tertiary institution, colleges and universities? It is very clear that, as a country, we have not been investing in ECE. What is critical is ... view
