  • 16 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: heal an inequality. If we talk of the issue of PWDs, that one is agreeable. We can try to level the playing field between an able-bodied person and a PWD. Good examples arise and some of them come to the top of my head. For example, if we are going to go to a campaign rally and a dais is constructed it will, of course, require a ramp for a PWD to access it. However, if we try to make the level playing field unfair to the gender of men because they are the majority in the House, we shall ... view
  • 16 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: I am humbled and thankful for this one minute. I will use it to say that we are not here as a House to make perfect laws because we will not be able to make them. As a House, we can make progressive laws. For that reason, I support because I believe this is extending goodness to more people in the country. Thank you. view

  • 16 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. We all understand that this is a House of debate. I want to know if the Member is in order to say Members who interject him as he contributes are out of order to so. This is not a House of monologues or one individual speaking to others. This is a House of debate. Is the MP in order? view
  • 15 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I rise to ask the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Planning the following Question: (a) Could the Cabinet Secretary explain why the enumerators who worked for the sixth national census exercise that was concluded on 31st August 2019 are yet to be paid? (b) What measures has the Ministry put in place to ensure that all the enumerators and other staff who took part in the exercise are paid without any further delay? view
  • 3 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I support the ratification of this Agreement for the Establishment of the International Anti-Corruption Academy as an International Organization. We all know that this is a critical time in our history The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 3 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: In my support of this ratification of the formation of an Anti-corruption Academy, I have something that I think could be a good build to what is already happening. My build is that, as a country, we have made quite a number of efforts in this thing that we call anti-corruption. The fruits that our efforts are bearing are out there for everyone to see. The good book reminds me that they shall be known for their fruits. For the many years that we have been forming commissions and authorities, we have, ourselves, to prove what it is that we ... view
  • 3 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: I believe that the aim of the formation of an academy is to look for a way to find a more ethical way of conducting business and to instill this at the earliest stage possible and hence the need for the academy. To my mind, I would agree with the thoughts of a very intelligent lady by the name of Mother Theresa, who said that whatever it is that you resist shall persist. I believe the reason our efforts on anti-corruption are not bearing any fruit is because we have been resisting more than aligning ourselves with what we want. ... view
  • 3 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, today, there is a new drive to slay this dragon that has been known to kill not only our society, but goes straight to destroy the fabric that holds us together as a nation. Corruption in itself does not only deny us our dignity, but it is also a big threat to peace. That is because when we have dirty money finding its way to the borders of this country, we end up in a situation where we are prone to attacks by the very people who are streaming in that money with ill intent. Therefore, how we ... view
