18 May 2011 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, is the Minister in order to avoid answering my question which is whether the Ministry is considering setting up a special fund to give fishermen loans; rather than relying on the generalized funds such as the YEDF which belongs to all kinds of businesses? We want a specific fund for fishermen so that they can buy fishing gear. That is my question.

18 May 2011 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. First of all, I want to appreciate this Ministry because, at least, there is some improved service delivery in the Ministry. I think we need to appreciate that. Having said that, I wanted to ask the Minister a Question which has been asked, but I want to put it differently. I said the Exchequer Account which the Controller and Auditor-General audited and gave a report on 4th November, 2008, had ...

18 May 2011 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to move:- THAT, noting that the latest National Population Census indicates that there are about 1.8 million people aged over 60 years, a majority of whom are poor and cannot support themselves; aware that Article 57(d) of the Constitution makes it a requirement that the elderly receive reasonable care and assistance from their family and state; this House urges the government to create a scheme to pay any person who is over 60 years and is not in receipt of a pension or benefit from any organization or state agency, an amount of not ...
