  • 7 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Attorney-General the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Could the Attorney-General table the report of the inquiry into the killing by police of Messrs. ole Kipuri and Kimasisia ole Kunkuru and injuries to Messrs. ole Nkalo and ole Shonko during the Maai Mahiu clashes in Naivasha? 2484 (b) Could he also table a list of Kenyans killed by police officers between 2003 to date including those killed in Mt. Elgon operation, the "Wagalla Massacre" and post-election violence giving details of their age, home districts and the circumstances of the killings? (c) Could ... view
  • 6 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I think it has become a habit now of wildlife being a menace all over the country. There is no single place where the KWS is containing these animals in Naivasha and all over the country. Either they are overstocked or the KWS lacks the methods to eliminate them. Could the Assistant Minister inform this House what measures his Ministry has, either by de-stocking, killing them or using whatever means to reduce them so that we do not have them destroying crops? view
  • 6 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: I am a regular traveller with Kenya Airways. Last week, I sat next to somebody who is a regular traveller and he told me that seven flights were delayed and two were cancelled. I witness a similar turn around. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, is the Assistant Minister in order to give such a rosy answer when we know there is something awfully wrong with the Kenya Airways? The last flight to Kisumu was delayed for 15 hours--- view
  • 31 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. I want to fully support what hon. Imanyara has just said, especially on the role of women in that Commission. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, many Kenyans can remember the events that happened outside the Norfolk Hotel. When things started and went haywire, there was a woman who stood up and said that men should forget about being men, and give their trousers to women. Subsequently, the white men who were dining at the Norfolk Hotel and the police opened fire and many people died. That was during ... view
  • 30 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the whole thing is based on listening. When will those authorities which have adequate revenue, like Naivasha which contributes about 60 per cent revenue for the entire Nakuru District, be gazetted as Naivasha County Council? There are those that have the revenue while others are living from hand-outs from others. When are you going to gazette those that qualify? view
  • 29 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I believe that this company cannot be competitive because the importers enjoy certain subsidies in their countries. The only way we can help the 3,000 poor Kenyans who are working at the factory is by the Minister first investigating whether the imported jute bags enjoy any subsidies from their country of origin. view
  • 24 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister of State for Special Programmes the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Is the Minister aware that thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Naivasha are now living under gross inhuman conditions after the withdrawal of aid by both the Government and Kenya Red Cross Society? (b) Is the Minister further aware that one Mr. John Kimani died after taking some herbal concoction, and further that Messrs. Nahashon Muchiri and Benson Kamau are in critical condition after taking a similar concoction following the withdrawal of food aid? (c) What is the ... view
  • 24 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, first and foremost, I have not received the written reply up until now. That, notwithstanding, you have seen it in the Press. We saw people rioting and going to the district hospital because of lack of basic health services. You have also seen it in the media; people living in caves in Naivasha. That is because they do not even have the tents. In a place called Elementaita, they have not had any food supplies for quite a while. Could the Assistant Minister travel to Naivasha and confirm the facts, other than relying on that answer which ... view
  • 24 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, there are IDPs who are not necessarily living in the camps. They are scattered and living with their relatives, particularly, in Laikipia. They have not been getting any food aid from the Government. What is the Government doing to ensure that it takes care of the welfare of those IDPs? view
  • 24 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am not satisfied with the answer given by the Assistant Minister because of the following reasons. view
