  • 31 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, the preamble is what I am calling “the Long Title”. I beg to move:- THAT, the long title be amended by inserting the word “veterinary” immediately before the word “para-professionals”. view

  • 31 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. I join my colleagues in thanking the Minister, Dr. Kuti, because for once, in the Republic of Kenya, the veterinary surgeons and para-veterinary surgeons will be registered now. The tendency has been that somebody comes from any country and claims to be a doctor and being registered. We now have a real register and institutions in the Ministry under the control of the Minister. Thank you. view
  • 29 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, could the Assistant Minister confirm or deny that the delay in distribution of fertilizer within the onset of rains results in, overall, loss of over 25 per cent of the potential yield in cereals? If that be the case then, is it a fact now that we are expecting 25 per cent less than what we would have yielded because of mistakes from your Ministry? view
  • 29 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Water and Irrigation:- (a) what the current level of fluoride in water consumed within Naivasha is and what immediate plans the Ministry is taking to defluorinate the water, (b) whether her Ministry could consider constructing sewerage ponds now that the sewerage treatment works in Naivasha have been over- stretched and raw sewerage will reach Lake Naivasha, and, (c) when the new sewerage treatment works will commence now that the current system can only serve 20 per cent of the population. view
  • 29 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thank the Minister for the answer. However, I wish to seek your indulgence to inform the House the exact danger of fluoride, so that as we interrogate the Minister, Members can bear with me the pains the people of Naivasha are going through. Assuming concurrence--- view
  • 29 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I stand guided. You have heard the Minister say that the fluoride levels in Naivasha waters is 1.6 milligrams fluoride per litre of water and goes as high as 2.4 milligrams fluoride per litre. This is mainly in borehole water. More shockingly, you have heard her say that this will be reviewed in future as some of our neighbouring countries use water with fluoride levels of more than 3 milligrams fluoride per litre of water as their standard. The implication of that is that it is going to be a political review. About 1.5 milligrams of fluoride ... view
  • 29 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is the Minister in order to say that nothing can be done, while she knows the existence of deflourination plants, which are very basic and can be installed to clear the fluoride menace in Naivasha? view
