  • 5 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me a chance to speak on this Bill. I want to thank Hon. Njuki for bringing it to the House. The late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta was not only a nationalist for Kenya, but for Africa. Jomo Kenyatta was respected all over the world. Some of us miss his commands during national functions. The mausoleum should be opened to the public. Personally, I have also not seen the body of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta. I am not sure that most of the Members of Parliament have seen his body. I am also not sure that ... view
  • 10 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for also giving me a chance to contribute. We have passed many laws in this country about bribery and corruption. We have been let down by the EACC. Sometimes we encourage corruption. Most of the rich people in this country are corrupt and most of them are politicians and senior civil servants. I cited one case the other day of a person who is still a civil servant at the National Treasury putting up buildings worth almost Kshs1 billion. You wonder where a civil servant working at the National Treasury can get the money ... view
  • 27 Jul 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this chance to contribute on this Motion. Those elders are very important people. They have been doing their work since the time of colonialists in this country. I remember before I came to this House that a Motion like this was brought during the 10th Parliament by Hon. Eugene Wamalwa. Sometimes, we take a lot of time contributing on Motions like this one but the implementation does not happen. The village elders, with the work that they do in this country, are very important to us as a nation. They deserve ... view
  • 27 Jul 2016 in National Assembly: Without wasting a lot of time and debating so long, we need to pass this Motion so that those people are paid. I just want to thank Hon. Injendi for bringing it back. I hope that this time round, the President will act on it. I support. Thank you. view

  • 20 Jul 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me a chance to contribute. This is a very important Bill to this country. The governors have taken advantage because the MCAs do not know what they should be doing. In many counties, the governors have been misusing money. They have been stealing with the knowledge that the MCAs did not have laws like the one we are debating. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 20 Jul 2016 in National Assembly: I am asking myself, and I believe other hon. Members are asking themselves, too, where this Bill has been all this time. If it was read the First Time in 2014, why did it not come to this House for discussion so that it could get presidential assent? Did the Senators sit on it intentionally? The Constitution gives powers to the county governments to execute their mandates. We have many problems in many counties because this law has not been in place. There are very few counties in this country where you can pass and see the work done. Many ... view
  • 15 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me a chance to speak on this Bill, which has been brought by my neighbour, Hon. Wafula Wamunyinyi. It is a good Bill and I support it as it is although it has delayed. Farmers in this country have really suffered. This is the time for the Government to come out clearly on the issue of not only sugarcane farmers but all the farmers in this country, be it maize, sugarcane, coffee, pyrethrum or tea farmers. The Government must come out and give them support. I also want to thank ... view
  • 7 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you very much for giving me a chance to also contribute to this Motion. I rise to oppose the building of the second terminal by the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA). It is a good idea but at a wrong time because the economy of this country at the moment is not very sound. So many things are happening in this country. Maybe we are burdening the country with many projects like this one. Even if we are borrowing, it is a debt the people of Kenya will repay. Why am I saying this? It is because of what we ... view
  • 26 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, thank you very much for giving me a chance to send my condolences to the family of Mama Lucy Kibaki. Madam Lucy Kibaki, who was our First Lady, was a lady of courage, as many Members of Parliament have expressed. When the announcement of her death came, I thought about how she invaded a national media house. If she did not have courage, she would not have done so. This is a lady of courage. The country and many Kenyans will miss her. We encourage other ladies in this country to copy and read how Mrs. Kibaki was. ... view
