  • 28 Feb 2019 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, it is funny because I had requested a long time ago to speak and all the time you kept saying: “Sen. Mwaruma, Sen. So-and- so.” I do not really know what was happening and because now you have already closed the chapter, I think I will just sit down. However, I think it borders on --- view
  • 28 Feb 2019 in Senate: No, Madam Temporary Speaker. We were still canvassing the issue of Sen. Dullo and my good friend, Sen. Pareno, just pressed the intervention button. I know she had a go before me. I think it is a question of leadership and who is who in the House. view
  • 28 Feb 2019 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, what is the position of that? view
  • 27 Feb 2019 in Senate: Asante Bw. Kuna vitu vingi ambavyo havijatimizwa ... view

In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) Provide ownership details on the investors carrying out the mining activities in Kishushe area of Taita Taveta County; (2) State whether public participation was undertaken before allowing the miners on the site and table the outcome of such deliberations; (3) Confirm whether Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report certificate was issued and provide details of the ... view
  • 26 Feb 2019 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for this opportunity to support the Statement by Sen. Moses Wetangula. It is a very good Statement because some of us had already argued that this programme was bound to fail from the word go. This is because how do you take laptops to schools, yet they do not have the required preparedness in terms of electricity, safe storage and training of the facilitators? Therefore, some of us saw this happening. This is one of the failures of the Jubilee Government, so to speak, because most of the programs are implemented without preparedness. Look at ... view
  • 26 Feb 2019 in Senate: Similarly, look at the Big Four Agenda; you do not know the beginning nor the end; there is still no preparedness. Therefore, we would need a proper audit of the budget, because there was already a budget line of Kshs17 billion for the digital literacy equipment. We need a proper report on that, the same way we need a report on the many projects that are being suggested by our Government, and which are failing. Madam Temporary Speaker, I beg to support. view
  • 21 Feb 2019 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. Pursuant to Standing Order 48(1), I rise to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Lands, Environment and Natural Resources regarding the status of Voi Sisal Estate. In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) State details pertaining to the ownership of the Voi Sisal Estate and the status of the lease of the parcel of land. (2) State the acreage of the estate and indicate the current economic activities taking place. (3) State the area of the land under dispute between Voi Sisal Estate and Mkamenyi residents, and the circumstances that have led ... view
  • 29 Nov 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for this opportunity to support the Statement by hon. (Dr.) Musuruve. This issue of inclusivity is something that has been discussed and canvased in all spheres. Even yesterday we talked about voting for women to be included in Parliament. Today we are talking about Special Olympics World The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor, Senate. view
  • 29 Nov 2018 in Senate: Games. The hon. Senator talked about the Government sponsoring PWDs, especially those with intellectual disability to participate in these games. I have mentioned over and over again that we cannot pretend to be moving forward and developing as a nation when we leave a section of the population behind. In this case, we need to support the PWDs to attend sporting activities because they will do well and make us proud. Maybe we have somebody who is intellectually disabled, but they are physically okay. They can run and play different games. As the Senator is putting it clearly, let us ... view
