Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. Actually, I do not have any clarification, but I just wanted to report to the House that I just got a call from the hon. Member. She is attending a very urgent issue. She told me that she had spoken to hon. Abongotum so that this Statement can be brought to the House another day. This is very serious matter which involves three adults who have disappeared until today.

Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to thank the Mover of this Motion. This is a very important Motion for people who come from the pastoralist areas. We know that the KPRs are heroes in these areas. They are usually the first responders. They are the first point of call whenever there are these incidents and they perform exceptionally. They are heroes because they are the last men standing. Usually, when we have conflicts they are the first ones to come out. They are the ones who follow the livestock and guard our people. They have done a ...

Hon. Speaker, one of the pioneer countries in the deposit insurance scheme in the world is the United States of America (USA). This happened following the great depression of 1933. In that year, so many banks in the USA went under that, that country’s economy was exposed to a great danger. So, the USA legislature passed the Banking Act of 1933 in order to stop bank runs. When the President was pushing for the enactment of that law, he thought that he was solving the problem of bank runs alone. However, insurance of deposits helped, from that day, to secure ...

accounts if you are allowed to keep more than that amount in a bank. This is something that our country requires, particularly now that we are devolving to the counties, where everybody claims to have some power. It is something we should have as we look forward to growing into the global economy. We know what deposits do to countries. They help to redistribute wealth and mobilise resources. For example, if the people in Samburu are not able to deposit as much money as the people in Nairobi, people in Samburu can still borrow from Nairobi and develop the economy ...

Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, when the Mover of this Motion and the seconder left this House, they left me on guard. They told me to take care of this Motion until they come back. You are now putting me in a very awkward situation. I cannot reach them on phone and if they come back and find out that their Motion has been thrown away, I will be the one to answer. The other thing is that Mr. Chachu has been in this House long enough. He is a good friend of mine. Why did he not raise this issue ...

Thank you. I appreciate that. I have been sitting here for a long time. I wanted to speak and I was a little worried when you said that the debate will not go on anymore. For those of us who come from the rural parts of our country where there is abundant wildlife, this is a very important Motion and I want to add my voice in its support. It is a well documented fact that 75 per cent of our wildlife live outside national parks. I grew up herding my fatherâs cows and also elephants by extension and all ...
