That way, as a country, we can move away from rain-fed agriculture to irrigated agriculture. Once we are in that position, we will be able to feed our people. If a country cannot feed her own people, it cannot talk about being independent. It is my hope that after this House adopts this Motion, the relevant departments of the Government will take it into consideration and I believe this will take our country to the next level of food security and improved environment and growth. It will reduce the vulnerability that we have had because of lack of water in various parts. view
