23 May 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am very disappointed with this answer because it is public knowledge that the swings of the prices in the NSE - although I am a great supporter of 1576 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES May 23, 2007 capitalism - are so huge that it is not possible, under normal circumstances, for what is happening to happen. Is the Assistant Minister satisfied that the very small cartel of brokers in an economy as big as ours should not be increased? Is he ready to increase the number of brokerage companies so that the games that he knows that I know ...

23 May 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am very disappointed because the Assistant Minister is a very clever man and he knows how to answer questions very cleverly. He knows how to protect them. For the record, I support the growth of the stock exchange. I do not have a problem. However, could he now confirm that he is going to license many companies and give a very wide cross-section of the type of brokerage firms from across Kenya, so that everybody feels that they have a right and are playing their role in the growth of the economy through the stock exchange ...

15 May 2007 in National Assembly:
asked the Minister for Education:- (a) whether he is aware that many schools that belonged to the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) were taken over by the District Education Boards (DEBs) and other churches; and, (b) what plans he has to return these schools to AIPCA.

15 May 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am very disappointed with the reply to this Question particularly coming from such a good friend of mine whose uncle was the principal of Githunguri College; the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta. I am sure Mzee Jomo Kenyatta would be very disappointed because he left behind 426 schools of which Githunguri was one of them. Three hundred and twenty seven schools are run by the DEB. Now that I have made the Assistant Minister aware, and I have tabled the documents to prove that what I have said is the truth, could the Assistant Minister try to ...

15 May 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, since I have been a Minister in the Ministry of Lands I know for a fact that a formal complaint and a formal request was made by the church. In our former Government we had almost given back the DEB schools. Could the Assistant Minister commit herself that the Ministry will look at this matter positively since another claim will be made for the second time?

9 May 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I fully support my colleague who has moved that this House adjourns under Standing Order No.18(1) because, last week, I was given an unsatisfactory reply to Question No.237, regarding the issue of promissory notes that were issued with regard to the Anglo Leasing deals. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, yesterday, I wrote to the Minister for Finance, as is the practice in several Commonwealth Parliaments and drew his attention to the specific issues that I would raise. I am disappointed that he is not here. As stated in the letter, I would like him to ...

9 May 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am delighted that he has walked in. I wrote to him. He has the five questions. I would plead with this House to focus only on those five points. Do not digress so that we can give the Minister a lot of time to reply to the five points that I have raised.
